madrid hotel for 2 teenagers
would you choose hotel plaza mayor or hotel europa for 2 teenaged girls who want to be in a safe, clean location ,for under 100 euros.any other suggestions?

Probably Europa -- slightly more convenient from Plaza delSol. Great facility and very reasonable two years ago. The rooms to the front with small balconies overlooking the plaza are great EXCEPT they are noise until the city settles down around 2AM.

I stayed at the Mario on Campomanes which is a Room Mate Hotel. It is located at the Opera metro stop, a few minutes walk from Palacio Real and Plaza Mayor. I believe it was about 90 Euros a night and included a nice breakfast.

When you say teenaged what do you mean ? :) I don't think fifteen years old girls are allowed to be alone at a hotel LOL

I stayed at the Hotel Europa and recommend it. The cafeteria downstairs is not great and breakfast is not included, however. If you can find similar place w/breakfast, go for it.

Hotels in Spain will not take under 18 years old.
If this is the case, you can check with the hotel if they will take them with a fax or letter from their parents. |
In my previous message I wrote a LOL that didn't belong to this message, sorry ! I was chatting at the same time with a friend and mistook screens, I don't want to offend anyone !!

We stayed 1 night at the Hotel Plaza Mayor this summer and I would feel comfortable there as a young woman. The young man at the front desk was extremely professional and very helpful to us in making dinner and show arrangements. It had a nice, low-key vibe.
I don't know Madrid at all, but the location was good for us. We went to Botin for dinner (liked it, but would try somewhere else next time) and Carboneras Flamenco for a show. It was a short walk and even at midnight I felt safe, walking around as a 43 year old woman with a 13 year old and an 11 year old. |
As per Tamylouky, 6 of us also stayed at the Mario, in March this year, and were very pleased with it.

Oh, in Spain when you are 18..you are no more a teenager !!! ;) You know, you can vote on elections ...you become a "mature" person :)
