Mad Cow?
Please don't jump on me if there has been a recent thread about this, but I'm going to Italy in a few weeks and am really looking forward to Beef Florentine. Is it safe to eat beef in Europe now?

yes

But Bistecca Fiorentina, which starts as a T-bone steak, is now routinely prepared OFF the bone.

Best wishes,

Rex
please refer to the topic i posted mad cow disease-new information. it really sheds doubt on the relationship of mad cow and the human form. mange bene

If I were a cow, I were be mad too.
Beef Florentine indeed!
|
I wouldn't dare! Too many other nice things that I could eat instead, harm-free 100%
|
Rex - you're wrong old boy. Off the bone worries don't exist anymore. Insist on having your meat on the bone - otherwise the flavour will be reduced.
|
Anyway, Italy, has been amongst the less concerned countries. I believe there has been a handful of mad cows, there, and zero human cases.

I based what I said on the dinner menu at Villa San Michele in Fiesole (Florence), September 20, 2001.

If they have gone back to leaving the bone in the interim, then I am sorry for reporting information that is 34 days old.

As I have always said before, all travel information is inherenetly "perishable". Might be interesting to hear comments from someone in Florence this montn.
