Wow, Madeira has more interesting museums than Sicily? Not to speak of all those Greek/Roman/Norman/Arabic sites in Sicily. I find that hard to believe. But I've never been to Madeira.

Andalucia and Sicily are good bets. Not only is there a chance of decent weather but there is a lot to see and do. We spent some time in London in December and had weather in the 60s. I don't recommend London but it just goes to show that the weather can do almost anything.

No but Madeira has some fascinating walkable waterways and the estufa which are worth a visit, then there are the stone sledges, and of course its miles away from Libya

We spent a week in Antibes in January a few years ago. It was milder than my Norfolk Virginia home. We wore light jackets during the day and added scarf and gloves in the evening. Daytime temps were mostly high 50s to low 60s.
My sister researched weather in Europe for that trip and found, historically, the area around Nice was pretty consistently mild.

I think you mean the wicker basket sledges from Monte down the hill to Funchal :)

Thanks all! We're vacillating between Southern Spain/Portugal and Morocco or Sicily, Puglia and end in Rome which I know will be somewhat colder. We've got 6-7 weeks. Reading, reading & reading. With the exception of Morocco and PUglia we have been to the other places, but a repeat would be nice. Hard to choose.
