London's best pub?
Nominate your fav and tell me why. traveling there in June and want to know which ones not to miss!
I am not a pub person - however you simply cannot miss The Old Bank of England pub on Fleet Street. The wall murals are something special. Great bangers & mash too.
This web site might be helpful to you in selecting pubs: http://www.pubs.com/
You might enjoy the London Pub Walk, one of the evening walks & impossible to miss - they advertise all over the city.
If you do a text search here for London pubs there will be tons of previous posts. Ben Haines has a list of pubs with good food too.
The Sherlock Holmes [address?]. Really interesting. The upstairs dining area has a reproduction of Sherlock Holmes's study.Food was pretty good too
the Counting House. Beautiful pub. Used to be a bank. In the City (of course).

As always, good advice from the posts. Thanks!

I just got back last week from London so I'll share some of my favorite Pubs that I visited on this trip. All of thes pubs meet my two most important criteria for a good Pub.
1)It must serve cask-conditioned Real Ale 2)The pub must have some historical significence. "Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese" http://www.professorharbottle.co.uk/.../cheshire.html "The Lamb http://www.professorharbottle.co.uk/...tend/lamb.html "The Prospect Of Whitby" Has agreat view of the Thames. http://www.professorharbottle.co.uk/...st/whitby.html "The White Cross" Another great river view Pub. http://www.professorharbottle.co.uk/...hitecross.html Have fun.. |
Hi there
some that I would recommend are: Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese (Fleet Street) Lamb & Flag (Covent Garden) The prospect of Whitby (Wapping) The Maple Leaf (Covent Garden - great if you want to catch up on the US sports) The Old Bank (Fleet Street) As a previous poster mentioned, it is really worth going on a pub walk, they really do take you to some great pubs and teach you a bit about the pub's history too. Hope this helps. Regards Andy. |
