what are good theater shows for 16 year old girls? what is the best way to purchase tickets ahead of time<BR>

Mamma Mia is wonderful and she would love it. Also try Les Mis and Phantom of the Opera if she likes musicals. Those three have been my daughter's favorites and your's should like them too.

sorry. I forgot to address your second question. I have used ticketmaster for the uk with excellent results. I had the tickets mailed to me in the USA in advance but you can also have them held at the box office.

Its been at least 2 years since I've been in London, but the last time I was there I saw "Starlight Express". Tho I'm not a 16 yr old girl, it seems to me that the action/love story/ music would appeal very much to teenagers!! Mama Mia would also be good, but the Starlight Express is a whole 'nother experience with the rollerskating , etc. In any event, have a great time,,,and you can almost always pick up tickets at the box office.

We always use www.ticketmaster.uk. I'd vote for Mamma Mia (Great!! A real fun show), Les Mis, Phantom (if you have not seen these already). My Fair Lady is another good one.

(Mike - we get it already)<BR><BR>Sharon - the best way to get advance tickets is to phone the theatres directly. You avoid the booking fee and they will hold the tickets at the box office to pick up when you are in london.<BR><BR>For all the "youth friendly" shows except My Fair Lady and Mama Mia, there is no need to make advance reservations. They are all available every day at the 1/2 price ticket booth in Leicester Sq. So buy the tix to MFL or MM if they appeal to you, and for anything else get the tix after you arrive. <BR><BR>That way if you decide at the last minute to go out of town or find something that conflicts you are not locked into going to a play on a particular day.

My Fair Lady closed in January and Mamma Mia tickets are not available at the half price ticket booth.

Tom, you are mistaken. My Fair Lady is still playing and is booking through this summer. But you are right about no half price tickets to Mama Mia.

Sorry, to be even more specific, My Fair Lady is currently booking through December 21, 2002.

Mike - I know - was just kidding.<BR><BR>Tom - you must really be confused. My Fair Lady is not closing - has not considered closing - and did not have any closing notices. They are going through some cast changes which happens to all long running shows.<BR><BR>Cats, Starlight Express and several other shows have closed recently - maybe it was one of those. <BR><BR>As I said MFL and Mama Mia (plus Les Mis and Phantom) are never at the 1/2 price booth (well actually they are but only at full price) - but just about everything else is.

Tom, you may have some reason to believe as you do. I believe this production of My Fair Lady did originally play at the National, and then moved to the West End, but if memory serves correctly (and it often doesn't) that happened even before January. In any case, folks, My Fair Lady is alive and well.
