I'll look, going to Target today, thanks!
|
You can buy Totes in the UK. Boots and Marks&Spencer will have small folding umbrellas, as will any number of corner convenience stores and the kind of stalls selling touristy stuff and cheap wallets in Oxford St.
|
Brollies (you will have to learn the lingo) are on sale just about everywhere in Central London.
You could even buy a really good one as a souvenier from this mob: http://www.james-smith.co.uk/ The shop is in St Giles' Circus - just at the end of Drury Lane (Covent Garden end). It's a wonderful shop. I keep expecting the shopkeeper from Mr Benn to appear (British kids programme for people as ancient as me). If you're in the area you might like the Transport Museum in Covent Garden which certainly kept this man's inner sevem year old happy. Very happy. |
CW, there is a LOT of lingo I have yet to learn and can't wait. I now know that 'post' is what you use for 'mail'. Etc. We'll be spending time in Wales, looking forward to learning a bit of that. FWIW I figured out what 'brollies' were immediately. I'm planning on the transport museum on one day. Can I buy a low cut t-shirt or knickers that say 'Mind the Gap'? (ducking and running for cover)
yk, I saw some super cheap and poorly made Totes today in Target for $10. Bought 'em anyways for our own destruction here in my rainless city. I'll probably pick up some in London, we'll see. Thanks for the heads up. |

You can assume that the folks in London will have found a way to take any good joke and go lower than you can so yes you will find such things |
Can I buy a low cut t-shirt or knickers that say 'Mind the Gap'? (ducking and running for cover)>>>>
You certainly can. |
I now know that 'post' is what you use for 'mail'.
On the contrary. "Post" (as in US Postal Service) is what you use for "Mail" (as in Royal Mail). You're not even consistent in your misuse of English |
but our mail is delivered by the postman. Their post is delivered by the mailman.
go figure. |
And we all use the other verb: to post vs to mail.
Inconsistencies would appear to be the only thing that's consistent. |
ps I've just been in Smith's )Th eumbrella shop I posted buying a pressie). It really is worth a visit.
(BTW I've just paid £150 for a stick. Does anyone want to sell me a bridge?) |
