Dont use the tube unless you can manage any stairs. Go slowly, with one hand on the rail, stop for a breath now and then. Been there, done that. We reach an age where it's not so easy. But I'd also add: even if you can manage stairs, don't use the tube during "rush hour" on the Piccadilly Line -- which we discovered a few days ago, when we took the tube from our South Kensington hotel to Wyndham's Theatre around 6:00pm. Not only were all the cars packed like sardines, but also not a single person -- not even the very young and fit -- offered seats to us or to anybody else. We saved a few bucks and a few minutes' time, but we decided then and there that in the future, we'll Uber or Bolt during busy times. (We had no problems using the Tube in the late morning & certain other times of day.) Also, re: Blackberry Cars: way more $$ than Uber/Bolt, which are both very reliable in London. While car services are certaily convenient when arriving at Heathrow, we used Uber on our return from our hotel to LHR. Even using the reserve-ahead feature (which I highly recommend), using Uber from Lon-LHR cost less than half of what the car services charge. (If you're intent on riding in a shiny black limo, though, Uber may not be for you.) |

I personally never (ever) use uber / bolt in London. Sorry - just wouldn't. When not using the Tube or buses, I use legitimate black cabs (not just black of course). London cabbies spend years and thousands of ££ plus having background checks qualifying for a taxi badge. Any schmoe with a satnav can drive for uber. Just not a level playing field - plus for trips around central London a 'real' taxi is no more expensive than uber, especially with the surge pricing.
(Nor do I use Blackberry because they are more expensive than some other car services) |

We were also there this past week! We took the Piccadilly line back out to Heathrow during evening rush hour on Tuesday, and it was pretty packed for the first half of the ride - fortunately we had fairly small bags. Nothing, though, like the Overground going to and particularly back from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the Bears-Jaguars game last Sunday! I wasn't sure whether I'd live through the surge trying to get on the train after the game.
Can't begin to imagine the Bears-Jaguars game crowds -- I definitely know what you mean about being overwhelmed by the surging crowds of people! |

I use a driver in London that drives for both Uber and Justairports airport transfer. I’m sure he is not the only driver driving for both platforms.
I’ve used Uber plenty of times to get back to the airport, It has never been half the price of a car service, but it’s definitely a bit less. For me it’s often a game time decision and Uber is easiest. |
