Here is the address of the first apartment "48 Crawford Street
London W1H 1JY" Is this address close to any tourist site? Baker Street tube station seems walkable from he apartment. I checked about the VRBO #235652. Its address is "Bray place Chelsea London Sw3". The owner said it has windows and it can sleep people. Which of these two is better? |
yes it'sclose to the Eye , Vinopolis , and across the bridge to St Paul's and London Museum but you will need transportation to other sites. Try tfl.gov.uk to look up the transport options from there.

It's in the City (the business district). This is an office building converted to flats. Very central, very quiet at evenings and weekends. Not much in the way of shops and restaurants in the area.

@Bowsprit: VRBO #27554 is not available for my dates. The apartment looks excellent though. I guess I have started a little late. I am sending a request to base2stay. BTW here is another one I receive today (Apartment 1) : http://cityholidayhome.com/kensington/ SlowTravel has a negative review for one of their apartment. But this is not that one. This is in Kensington, so that should be a good area, right? |

Avalon: sorry for the confusion about 235652. junk has posted so many flats over the threads I missed that this was one of the earlier postings.
junk: The Bray place flat (235652) is one I already reviewed above -- #3. A really excellent location. It seems to be a HUGE bargain - due to the work going on next do apparently. MUCH better than in the "City". I don't think you will find better anywhere near the price. |

Yes, very hard. Basically, any businesses in the area serve the business people who mostly keep office hours. Another point against this place is that there's a main through road at the top of the street. That is a good part of town to be in, as you can see if you look it up on Google. I would guess Apt 1 is a lower ground floor (basement) flat (which is why the photos are so odd), and Apt 2 on the first (US second) floor). They say they sleep six, but only by cramming four people on to two sofa beds, presumably in the living room. |

We stayed at Flat 9 through City Holiday Home. The location of the flat was great - walking distance to Trafalgar Square, Embankment or Charing Cross Tube stations within minutes, a quick walk through a park to the Thames.
We were five adults in a one bedroom flat, two of us were in the bedroom, two of us on the sofabed in the living room and the teen on an air mattress in the kitchen - a bit of a squeeze but worth it due to the cost and location. I believe I read you are travelling with your children so close quarters would probably not be that much of an issue. The kitchen was nice and the flat had the best washer/dryer we have ever come across in Europe. |

Once again a description on that website is less than accurate. Walking distance to Harrod's -- it is about 1.5 miles.
Not the greatest location - across from Brompton Cemetery. It does say 2 bedrooms - but you really can't see much of the flat other than it does have a modern kitchen. |

Mrs Wilde's apartment was clearly not the one you mentioned in Kensington, which is near Kensington Palace (so the neighbours may a bit nouveau riche, but security should be topnotch).
Finborough Road is part of a busy one-way system and a bit blah as a residential neighbourhood as a result, but, as you might guess from janis's post, the neighbours at the back are reasonably quiet. It is also well served for public transport, with a couple of buses going past the door in the direction of Earl's Court tube, High St Kensingon and Notting Hill. On the cross road 5 minutes' walk away (Old Brompton Road) are several buses going west into central London. |
