I know that this thread was idle for a long time. But I finally found in my papers of former trips the name of the limousine service I used in Rome 2 years ago. The service was superb: an extremely nice (and handsome) driver waited for us on arrival. We were charged 35 Euros for the ride from Fimicino to Rome (near the Spanish Steps). No extras, no sharing the ride with others. Great service. The name of the company is Rome Shuttle Limousine

Since we are returning to Rome in a few weeks, I checked their site. The rate is still 35 Euros. From our past experience I intend to use them again and highly recommend this company.

Hi. 35 euros with rome shuttle limousine does sound to good to be true. Can anyone else verify they are good as I am ready to book with them. I am a little put off however becuase they quoted me 50 euro and when i mentioned the website price of 35 euro they said they were sorry they miss quoted me and 35 euro was correct. So I wonder?

Any feedback? Thanks

The following are the recommended companies from the owner of the apartment we'll be staying in. I'm just starting to check them out, but will post for others.

Here's a recent post about romeshuttlelimousine:

We paid 35 Euro to the hotel from the airport and the car was a Mercedes, and 45 Euro back to the Airport because we needed a van because of extra luggage.
The drivers were prompt and courteous, and we were very happy with the company.

I sent romeshuttlelimousine a request this morning; I haven't heard from them up to now, but I suppose it is the weekend...

The Domus Julia says they recommend a shuttle from the airport that is only 12EUR. Sounds too good to be true, but other fodorites have used it. I'm looking into it more now.

Today I received a reply to my e-mail yesterday to romeshuttlelimousine; it confirms the price of 35 Euro.

Neopolitan Apr 9th, 2006 08:15 AM

Hmmm. Very interesting. When I researched this for four of us back in 2000 the best deal I could find was 90 euro.
I've emailed Romeshuttlelimousine also.

Interesting that if you click two seemingly indentically named links above you get two different websites.

Neopolitan Apr 9th, 2006 08:32 AM

Maureen, I would suspect that 12 euro shuttle is one that is shared by a number of people and would likely make several stops. That can be fine and if traveling alone certainly is a big savings over getting your own car, but probably not the same as the other private transport ideas.

Eloise Apr 9th, 2006 08:42 AM

Neopolitan,

If I recall correctly, the 35 Euro is for one or two people, and there are different prices for three or four, and for more than four. It should all be on www.romeshuttlelimousine.com.

I don't understand why you'd take a limo from the airport to the Termini, when the train is AT the airport?

Neopolitan Apr 9th, 2006 09:12 AM

Maybe because if there are two of you, the cost of two train tickets plus a taxi from Termini to your hotel would equal the cost of the car and take you considerably longer, plus involve two very long hauling of luggage, plus making a connection in the crowds at Termini? Just a thought why someone might want to do that.

As I recall our taxi from Termini to our hotel last time was about 20 euro including a tip. I don't remember what the train cost, but that 35 euro for two and being met by a car and taken directly to the hotel sounds pretty darned good to me!

Neopolitan Apr 9th, 2006 09:13 AM

And now I see you said "taking a limo to Termini". . . well, I'm not sure why you'd do that either. I thought most of the posts here were about taking you from the airport to a hotel.

hipvirgochick Apr 9th, 2006 09:57 AM

The sites I posted above are about the same as being posted here by others (35-40 euro).
For 3 or more people definitely worth it vs. cost and time of train.

MaureenB Apr 9th, 2006 10:46 AM

Neopolitan, you're right about the shuttle, and that's what I expect. I think since I'm traveling alone, it's my best option, though.

Thanks to everyone for so much great info! I have a quick question about the train from Fiumicino to Termini.

I am not exactly positive when we will be arriving at the airport.

So I have 2 questions:

I assume that you need to know a definite arrival time to book any of these limo services?

So assuming that I have to rule that out, how can I get from the airport to Termini by train (as many details as you can provide would be wonderful!) and how much will it cost or where can I find that info out?

Thanks!

I have just returned from Rome. I used the service of Rome Shuttle Limousine. This is the second time I am using this company. They were absolutely great! They charge 35 Euros for a private ride, no sharing for up to 4 persons. They didn't ask for a credit caed not even as guarantee. The driver waited for us with a sign with our name.

This is their site. I highly recommend them!

I arranged my transfer by private car through Context Rome. It was 50 E I believe. The driver met me just outside of baggage claim. He ws prompt, polite and tolerant of my jet lag. He even stopped at an ATM for me. He carried my bag into the hotel for me. Context Rome monitors your flight so if you are late, as I was, they will be aware and send the driver at the correct time.

Could anyone explain me why pay 50 Euros when there is a company that offers excellent service for just 35 Euros?

Traveler2 Dec 2nd, 2006 09:53 PM

Well now I am confused as this is the company I contacted and was posted and recommended by Paradiselost (you will see his posting currently: Rome: Fiumicino/Leo. Exp. train etc. and he has used and recommended this company: http://www.romeshuttlelimousine.com Note the difference in web add. etc
They quoted me the price of 35 euros from the airport to my hotel, which is further than downtown Rome.
This is the posting for what I thought was the same limo shuttle service that I am thinking of using. The person who posted is staying at the same hotel I will be and she paid 35 euros and was very pleased with their service.
http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34808734
So my question is: are there 2 companies with the same name?
PLEASE HELP!
