Lambrusco Vineyard Tour
Gonna base in Bologna for a week. Looking for a Lambrusco vineyard tour. Has anyone done one independently? All my research end up with organized bus tours that bounce from spot to spot.
We will have a rental car and plan to make multiple trips for Modena for the car factory tours. Thanks in advance. |
These people near Castelvetro in Modena -- which is less than 15 minutes from the Ferrari factory in Maranello -- run a restaurant and an agriturismo at their winery, and you might be able to arrange with them for a tour, plus have a nice homey lunch. Castelvetro in Modena is a sweet town worth seeing, and also a great place to buy balsamic vinegar and preserved cherries from the dispensary in the central piazza (which is a medieval human chess board).

Also, if you like Lambrusco di Sorbara in particular, you might try contacting Garuti, which is about 30 minutes from Modena (north toward Mantova)
http://italianwinereview.wordpress.c...bara-and-more/ Just so you know, when you contact individual wineries to ask for a private tour and a tasting, the normal expectation is that you are interested in buying wine from them. Sometimes the enthusiasm of a small family producers is such they are happy to share with you everything about their products without that expectation, but that is normally why people request tours and tasting -- to buy. |
Thanks for the info and "expectation".
Already have a tour reservation with Villa San Donnino so I'm set in the balsamic vinegar front. Still trying to round up a Lambrusco into. |
