King size bed?

This may seem like a silly question to some but are the king size beds in England hotels the same size as American king size beds?
Thanks in advance for any help

i have never had one, i usually share my bed in england with the queen....

if it is an american chain hotel, like marriott, i think you can expect it to be american style and size, otherwise i doubt it...send the hotel an e-mail and ask for measurements???

Hi

Mattress dimensions can be found at http://www.sizes.com/home/mattresses.htm

Don't be surprised if the 'king' bed is two twins pushed together...

In terms of the two twins joined as a "king"..some places in Europe do this and the result is often called a "French double." However, I agree with contacting the hotel directly and asking for measurements...I suspect you won't have any trouble getting the answer. Just as an aside, recently stayed in Munich at LeMeridien who "advertised" "king" sized beds..they were, too...the standard "king" size (not "California")

I stayed at the Marriott Maida Vale Hotel in London last week and the king bed was the standard American sized king bed--not 2 twins pushed together.

Thanks for the answers. Staying at Holiday Inn so I assume then that they will be the standaed American size.

In England hotels, you can only buy the king sized bed if you're a straight guy. If you're a gay guy you need to get the Queen.
