The comments I got were "Unfortunately, even after logging on the edit option did not come up. Possibly you need to check the option of collaborate so others can add theirs as well."

and

"I was able to get the Edit and Baloon boxes by clicking the "Untitled" box under "Created by me", which is just above Monica's "Equinox 2009" box on the left side. Actually I think I clicked on "Create new map" first. Anyway, I now have a map that shows my baloon and Monica's "camera", but I don't know if anyone else can see mine."

In response to the second comment, I cannot see her balloon.

Someone also suggested I change the "collaborate" which means I would have to have eveyone's address. That won't work.

Oh well, I'll keep trying.

So, Padraig - up for a pint when I visit Northwest Ireland in summer 2010? We'll probably fly into Belfast, doesn't look TOO far from where you are :)

What do they get when they log on and bring up the map? Did they look for the Edit button at the top of the left-hand column (with the names in it)? They may have to scroll up to see it.

I figured it out. I had to go in the "Manage collaborators" and check the "Allow anyone to edit this map" box.

I think I just took the prize for the most northerly Fodorite in North America - all alone in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada!

I finally did it.

sheila,

Glad to see where you live, but could you PLEASE put the label of the general location of your home in the box? When I hit on your tag I get a detailed squiggle of map, with lots of unfamiliar names. I then have to zoom way out to find the country you live in. I now know it is Scotland, but it took me a while to find that out.

:-)

Most of that, I didn't understand. :)

but I've changed the entry.

And I added the French house

nukesafe Jun 8th, 2009 11:04 PM

Thank you Sheila. That is exactly what I meant. By looking at your name I can now easily tell you are in Scotland.

Robes, I've tried and tried but I am too dumb to get the hang of it. Either I put myself in the wrong city or I put myself there about 20 times. Could you put me in the center of Denton, Texas and sign me "Sandy (in Denton)."

I'd be forever grateful!

Thanks,
Sandy (in Denton) . . . of course!

I've found I can locate people pretty quickly by clicking on their name in the list, then setting the zoom level about halfway. I found Sheila on the first try that way.
