It was flurrying all week-end and yesterday there was a light dusting clinging to the green spaces. It looked pretty but it was too cold, damp and WINDY to appreciate it much! Made for a lot of cafe stops however!

I haven't seen that many fur coats in the last 20 years! And the famous Parisan scarves were wound arounf noses and mouths so it looked like all the women had adopted the burqa!

The last time I was in Paris in the snow, it was truly wild weather...when I started lunch it was raining, but the time I got dessert it was sleeting, but the time I left, it was snowing and by the time I walked from the Blv. St. Michel to the Ile St. Louis, it was snowing HARD with heavy thunder and lightning! There was a freak winter thunderstorm directly overhead. It was amazing, but also a little scary. I ducked into a store on the Ile St. Louis to get out of the storm. I pretended to be interested in the merchandise, but the shop owner knew the real reason I was there and I knew he knew.
Is the snow in Paris sticking?
I leave Saturday morning for 11 days in Vienna and am hoping to see some "real" snow there. We've been having snow showers here in the southeastern UK, but it's not sticking and it's not very impressive.

jody, did you have a Fabulous time?

kat Feb 23rd, 2005 05:50 PM

Oh Scarlett....my son is visiting his Dad down in Jacksonville and tells me how hot it is down there right now. Meanwhile, we're getting snow again tomorrow in NY. I'll take your 76 degree weather right now....

Scarlett Feb 23rd, 2005 06:01 PM

Hi kat! Snow again? I sort of miss it but don't :)

chocaholic Feb 23rd, 2005 06:52 PM

I am going to Paris this Saturday. I hope no more snow, since I have snow all winter long here in Canada.....I was hoping that it be above 5 degrees celcius....tell me it's getting warmer over there!!!

Scarlett Feb 23rd, 2005 08:48 PM

chocoholic, I hope it warms up for you. It doesn't even have to warm up much, does it? :)

LoveItaly Feb 23rd, 2005 08:58 PM

Hi Scarlett, sounds like that fabulous coat your are taking to Paris will be perfect! And don't forget the socks.

clairobscur Feb 24th, 2005 06:53 AM

Chocoholic,

I looked at the weather forecast, and they expect snow on both saturday (3°C at noon, colder and snow later) and sunday (0°C at noon). Sorry....

clairobscur Feb 24th, 2005 06:57 AM

I must say I'm pretty happy, since I miss snow (it's rare in Paris, and I think it's the first time this winter). The more, the better.

chocaholic Feb 24th, 2005 06:59 AM

Thx everyone, no it doesn't have to warm up much for me to be happy. That's why I figured that around 5 degrees would make me happy as some Lindt black currant chocolate. But, I guess I will not notice the snow when I'm inside shopping and visiting the museum...I guess I will just have to wait until summer here in Canada.

Hey, how you guys put the smileys in your post??

Scarlett Feb 24th, 2005 08:06 AM

Chocaholic,

Weather reports here in France are saying we may see the sun on Saturday and Sunday, but Monday and Tuesday are supposed to be the coldest days we've had all winter. That probably not very cold compared to condition in most of Canada, however. It was about 2ºC here in the Loire Valley this afternoon.

Scarlett Feb 24th, 2005 08:16 AM

LOL ! chocoholic, as my friend LoveItaly says, remember your socks!
I have to start keeping track of the weather for our time there, the second week in March..no heat waves expected, I suppose~

parisnow Feb 24th, 2005 08:17 AM

As I was sliding down my snow covered driveway this morning all I could think about was "That snow better be gone in Paris by March 3rd".

ckenb Feb 24th, 2005 08:43 AM

I live in Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher, which is 25 miles (40 km) south of Blois in the Touraine area. Here are some pictures I took in my yard this morning:
