Ditto on the above message. I would sure try to get down to northern Bavaria. We recently returned from there. Nurmburg and actually the quad cities just north, Bayreuth ( fabulous opera house), Kulmbach ( Plassenburg schloss with a Frederick the Great exhibit and 3 floors of tin toy museum ), Coburg and of course beautiful Bamberg. Also if you reach Regensburg keep going on to Passau. This lovely city reminded us of Salzburg ( hills but no mountains of course). It is rarely mentioned but with the 3 rivers here including the Danube, mein gott in himmel, it is beautiful and vastly underated. I would forget Prague for now. That is a trip in intself. Wurzburg is a wonderful destination with much to see and rarely mentioned, The Marienburg fortress, Bishop's residence palace ( largest staircase in Europe, trust me it is breathtaking ) and the surrounding vineyards!

To the last two posters:

The guy is asking for tips on travel in the general area of Berlin and Dresden. While you are no doubt correct in pointing out the attractions of Bavaria this is hardly relevant to his request. He has already been to Bavaria, so why assume he missed Regensburg, Bamberg, Nürnberg and Würzburg?

Harzer
