Montecantini What a city, I will always dream of it.

After Venice,

Amalfi Coast/Capri
Cinque Terre
Siena

Looking forward to adding some towns in Umbria to the list!

Venice is such a special place, I love it, we also had a wonderful holiday in Lucca, and in Northern Italy, we love the Dolomites. I just love Italy full stop.:)

Someone mentioned that Montecatini was a beautiful city. I wonder which one she meant? Is it Montecatini val di Cecina ( near Volterra) or Montecatini Terme (East of Lucca)?

I don't think I can make it to both cities.

Siena for its central location in stunningly beautiful wine country during the day and mystical medieval streets at night.

Ravello

You made DH and I share a moment... I read him the question, and we both said " The Lakes".

We've spent 3 days on Como & 4 days on Garda - amazing. Each and every town/stop has a treasure.

As I read other people's comments on Venice I am also brought to my knees... but you already know the reputation of that destination!

Good grief Deek, my apologies, I just saw your questions posted in February right now. I am sorry I didn't see it sooner.

Congeliano is a special small city but without a car I truly do not think you would enjoy it as far as travelling around the Region of Veneto. The train station is in the center of town and there is a bus service (which I have never used) but I do think you would need a car to truly enjoy this area. Again my apologies that I didn't see your February post.

Oh...anywhere in beautiful, unspoiled Umbria.

Cinque Terre! Particuarly, Vernazza.

Sirmione......situated on a peninsula on Lago de Garda. You enter the town thru a castle. Perfect, small, friendly Italian town with upscale shops and tons to explore. You can take the ferry on the lake to explore all of the lake towns; explore the Dolomites. Just spectacular scenery! Plus, its my FAVE because I have family ties there. My greatgreatgrandmother owned a summer villa there. It was in our family until about ten years ago. ( UGH, BAD decision by older family relatives to sell it ).

My favorite place in Italy is
Varazze, Verona, and Florence.
Swimming in the Mediterrean Sea
in Varazze is a wonderful. I will
be visiting my family in Italy
in July. I can't wait to go. The beauty
of Italy is beyond any words.

I pretty much love it all, but I am particularly partial to the entire Veneto region-it has it all, as far as I'm concerned, history, incomparable art, scenic vistas, astounding architecture, villas, castles, ancient frescos, fascinating islands with working monasteries-the list goes on and on-Venice, Padova, Vicenza, Treviso, Conegliano, Udine, Trieste, the islands of Muggia and Grado off of Trieste-fab!

CRAZY4TRAVEL Apr 15th, 2007 01:23 PM

I have a hard time narrowing down a choice...Cinque Terre, The Val d'Orica in Tuscany, Ravello, Taoramina, Spello, Assisi, Rome, Orvieto, San Gimignano and Venice.

I,ve loved all the places in Italy I've visited... but sadly I was a little disappointed by Florence. I would definately give it another chance though.

Saving this for the info on Conegliano.
