I have a wonderful desktop picture of the most gorgeous sunset, seen from the balcony of La Cisterna in San Gimignana. I still can't believe how beautiful it is. I change out depending on my mood.

mnapoli Aug 22nd, 2005 04:49 AM

My own photo of Lough Tey (Guiness Estate)in County Wicklow, Ireland. From the air the lake looks like a pint of Guiness!

I change my desktop background as often as every few days on all three of the computers I use on a daily basis. They all have my photos, and they all have a screen saver of hundreds of photos from my travels on 5 continents.

Let's see. Right now, the laptap has a lighthouse on Kauai. My PC at home has a lovely view overlooking Hanauma Bay (my BIL and wife are on Oahu right now and this helps me think about them and wish I was there...) and my PC at work has a beach photo from Aitutaki Cook Islands, South Pacific.

Some day I hope be share my travel photos on the web.

Enjoy your travels.

I'm not a picture taker. I didn't have my own. With thanks to both djkbooks and Robespierre, who gave me recommendations... I have the most lovely street scene of Paris with the Eiffel tower rising behind with the bluest sky. Quick Paris fix. I'm going to change it often as well...

isabel Aug 22nd, 2005 06:07 AM

LuvMaine - I can't believe you have a pic of the Bridge of Flowers as your desktop! I live 20 minutes from there and it is very nice but I would never have thought of it as in the same league with all the European sites I love. Just goes to show you how we can ignore "gems" in our own backyard. I think I'll run over there this afternoon and take a photo of it. Thanks for reminding me that there are great places right near our own homes - helps to sustain us when we can't be traveling.

elaine Aug 22nd, 2005 06:11 AM

I've downloaded free wallpapers and screen savers from the internet.
At work I have wallpaper of a scene in Venice.
At home, the wallpaper is a Monet "Waterlilies" and the screen saver is a series of 8-10 pictures of Venice that change in sequence.

SAnParis Aug 22nd, 2005 06:29 AM

Sort of, it's my daughter @ the beach.

mr_go Aug 22nd, 2005 06:32 AM

My current desktop is this shot from our recent stay in Capri:

And I can personally vouch for ms_go's shot of Riga, mentioned previously. It's really beautiful!

martinewezel Aug 22nd, 2005 06:32 AM

Mine is a picture I took on one of our hikes in Chamonix one month ago.

jmw44 Aug 22nd, 2005 06:38 AM

I cannot possibly resist saying that mine is the view of Brissago and Pino on Lago Maggiore from my beloved Albergo Panorama in Gerra. Thanks for asking. I get a rush just thinking about it. J.

suze Aug 22nd, 2005 06:45 AM

Hey, how'd you know that? Yes, mine is my friend's rooftop patio garden overlooking the lake and mountains in Vevey Switzerland from summertime a few years back. Took it myself with a disposable camera.

travelphile Aug 22nd, 2005 07:15 AM

Certainly! I have Venice at home and work! Home is my DH's picture, work is a beatiful shot of St. Mark's SQ with nice lights after it had rained.

Sigh... 53 more days until Switzerland/Italy!

StCirq Aug 22nd, 2005 07:19 AM

Mais bien sur! Mine's the Cheese Guy who sells cabecous in the Le Bugue market.

LuvMaine Aug 22nd, 2005 08:16 AM

Hi Isabel: the photo was taken by my husband in May, and the bridge was at its "height" with spring flowers and flowering trees. I had visited it before in the fall and wanted to see it in another season; it is truly a gorgeous shot.

yeadonite Aug 22nd, 2005 08:49 AM

My best friend’s daughter gave me a beanie baby several years ago to take on vacation with me and I take Cheeser on all my trips. My desktop is a picture of Cheeser in front of Big Ben. It makes me reminisce and laugh at the same time.

I change my desk top pictures on my home and work computer all the time and 90 percent of them are travel pictures we took (the other ten percent of the time, they are of our cats).

Right now, my home computer has a picture I took in Cinque Terre, my wife's computer has a Yosemite picture, and my work computer is of The Hitching Post (the restaurant in Sideways). I guess I must be in the mood for wine (but no f+#@**# merlot).
((H))

aj Aug 22nd, 2005 10:44 AM

Yes, always. It changes from time to time but it always a trip we have taken. At the present time it is the harbor in Monaco from our trip in May. It keeps me working at my desk and not going crazy!

barbmc Aug 22nd, 2005 10:50 AM

Yes...I have been changing my desktop picture every few days just to "dream" about where we were this summer.

Dick Aug 22nd, 2005 10:52 AM

march123,

the links opened fine for me and clearly was not porno...not even people in the photos.

I'm with Isabel. I use many travel photos oon automatic rotation as my screen saver.

ncgrrl Aug 22nd, 2005 10:56 AM

My work computer is a photo of Mt. Zermat. It's good for a guided imagery relaxation moment.

AnthonyGA Aug 22nd, 2005 11:01 AM

I have a picture of the Eiffel Tower as desktop wallpaper at this particular moment.

cherylforeurope Aug 22nd, 2005 11:02 AM

Absolutely! Right now it's changing scenes for our upcoming trip next month to Germany, Austria & Prague from Webshots.com.

aeiger Aug 22nd, 2005 01:52 PM

Hi
Currently it's Trajans Market in Rome. I haven't changed it for some time time. I took it in January 2004.

ggnga Aug 22nd, 2005 02:17 PM

I started out with the idea of the Eiffel Tower but found the most gorgeous house in Provence with geraniums and roses all over. It makes me so happy to look at it.

Besides, I have 4 Eiffel Towers on my desk already. My 2 year old granddaughter loves the desk top. I look at it and the Eiffel Towers with her and tell her about France and how I will take her there some day.

wj1 Aug 22nd, 2005 03:33 PM

Am I the only one that still has "Dell" on my computer?

My feelings of inadequacy are coming back.....

Madison Aug 22nd, 2005 03:43 PM

My desktop is of the Eiffel tower at night, taken from the Trocadero. Francophile - I have taken so many pictures of Notre Dame and none compare to yours. It's beautiful. I too visit Notre Dame everytime I am in Paris. First thing I do when I enter Notre Dame is to light a candle for my mother.

march123 Aug 22nd, 2005 05:07 PM

I just got home and opened "worldinabag"'s links and now I see why these two beautiful pictures were filtered and deemed "pornography" at my work computer. Below the pictures are the following advertisements:

It was Stone Henge until a week ago...now it's my new puppy: Bella.

uhoh_busted Aug 22nd, 2005 05:57 PM

Oh, poor wjl! I take it you don't mean the Wisconsin Dells? Do you want someone to teach you the mysterious power of the right click?

Robespierre Aug 22nd, 2005 07:30 PM

By the way, that gal on my desktop appears to be a study for the sculpture on the northeast pillar of the Arc de Triomphe (facing Avenue de Friedland). I snapped it with a crappy camera and available light in the Arc museum just below the roof.

The final version seems to have turned out a little more restrained: France is still exhorting La Grande Armée forward, but somewhat less desperately, by my read.

Jenn Aug 22nd, 2005 07:54 PM

Yes - right now it is the gardens in front of Buckingham Palace from June 2005. Beautiful! My alternate is of my son and 2 nieces in front of Notre Dame July 2005. Great daily reminders of a terrific trip.

xanthippe Aug 22nd, 2005 10:06 PM

Of course! I currently have a view of the Jungfrau and neighboring mountains taken from near Murren. I got the picture off the web. At my office I have a picture taken in Glacier NP.

I have a two-week-old grandson, and as soon as he stops looking so scrawny I'll have to put his picture up, at least for a while!

OT Aug 22nd, 2005 10:56 PM

Usually I have a picture of one of the beaches on Anguilla.

Last week it was replaced by a picture taken in Italy, it is of the Isle of Man U15 Cricket Team, my son is a team member and they had just won the European Championship.

dan_woodlief Aug 23rd, 2005 05:25 AM

I alternate various travel shots with photos of my kids. I love it best when I can combine the two. One of these days I want to put together a screen saver of various trips. When I am nearing new vacations I like to put up photos that make me think about where I am going. I can't wait to put on more Italy photos.

Areala Aug 23rd, 2005 05:44 AM

Of course, right now it is various, slideshow of Greece. For my upcoming trip in Sept. Usually after a trip to eruope the current pics of that country that I took go on as a slide show until I start preparing for the next trip then the new pics go up

uhoh_busted Aug 23rd, 2005 02:21 PM

Dan! Are you going to Italy again soon? Before or after the Raleigh GTG?

JJBhoy Aug 23rd, 2005 04:19 PM

Here's my desktop - it's a picture of me in Seville in May 2003;

http://www.celticsupporterassoc.co.uk/sevfansb1.jpg

Oh, I forgot to mention - there are around another 90,000 or so fellow Glasgow Celtic football fans in the photo too!

Jim

Meredith Aug 23rd, 2005 04:40 PM

JJBhoy, are you the one in green and white? :)

My desktop is a photo I took from the top of Notre Dame looking out to the Eiffel Tower.

SeaUrchin Aug 23rd, 2005 10:27 PM

Yep. At the office it is a still I captured from the Good Friday Procession on the Sorrento Web Cam. It is just as the Virgin is coming along the street with the crowd holding candles, all very surreal.

At home I have my own photo of wildflowers in Positano, but I change that every few months.
