Please give my regards to ira if you communicate with him and tell him we think this must all be a terrible mistake.

colduphere Dec 7th, 2013 04:05 PM

Watt TF is going on?

Ira certainly can't be banished. We love Ira and his book full of knowledge. He is a Fodor institution.

tdk320n Dec 7th, 2013 04:47 PM

Bring Ira back.
He is a wealth of information and one of the most civilized and helpful of all the posters..

gigi69 Dec 7th, 2013 05:44 PM

oh no!!! bring Ira back

irishface Dec 7th, 2013 05:52 PM

Let's all start banging on a pan with a wooden spoon and chanting, "We want Ira!!!!" at 9 a.m. EST tomorrow morning.

Maybe the powers that be will hear us and look into this! If Ira is banned what hope is there for most of us?!

Pepper_von_snoot Dec 7th, 2013 06:03 PM

I don't get what is going on.

And I am sober.

Why would ira be banned?

That is just something out of Macbeth.

This is so nuts. I depend on advice from Ira in many areas of Europe and he always seems helpful and generous. What is going on?

catcrazyaf Dec 7th, 2013 06:23 PM

Barnaby, go find your companion and bring him back quickly. He is already missed.

Pepper_von_snoot Dec 7th, 2013 08:50 PM

How will we find ira in the silva rerum of Fodorville?

This is obviously doolally. Though, in fairness to the mods, ira's prose can be - well, let's say quirky - from time to time. It wouldn't be at all surprising if some phrase (or accidental mis-type) ticked an "nuke immediately" box on some automatic monitoring system.

What would be surprising, though, would be if anyone in Modland was awake, functioning and able to take a decision over a weekend .

Let's ALL tick the yellow triangle on this post, complain to the mods that a rogue mod is trying to destroy the forum and suggest they de-kidnap ira (and restore his earlier posts) as soon as they get back from their weekend

laurie_ann Dec 8th, 2013 01:59 AM

Bring back Ira!

SamanthaCanyon Dec 8th, 2013 06:37 AM

Ira? Banned? Cant believe it!

Dayle Dec 8th, 2013 07:37 AM

Ira's been on here almost as long as I have. He should not be banned and I'm sure he will be back shortly.

How did I miss his Sicily pictures? Where are they????

bilboburgler Dec 8th, 2013 07:54 AM

What did he do????? :-)

bilboburgler Dec 8th, 2013 07:55 AM

More to the point, are any of us safe?

kybourbon Dec 8th, 2013 07:58 AM

Quite a few people have been caught in the Fodor's software when they can't get something to post. If you click submit several times in a row thinking it's not working or start multiple threads within a few minutes. Cigalechanta's had this happen several times. Of course, it doesn't seem to ever catch the real spammers that are advertising.

Not sure you will get a response on the weekend to this problem. Perhaps Monday morning will work better.

basingstoke2 Dec 8th, 2013 08:25 AM

The same happened to me several weeks ago as kyb described. I simply contacted the fodor's gods and was reinstated immediately with an explanation that my post hit the spam filter so I was was automatically banished.

beachplum Dec 8th, 2013 08:31 AM

Sometime a few days ago, Ira started a thread and it disappeared pretty quickly. No question it was going to cause a riotous thread among participants who would react. I assumed that he had second thoughts about it and had asked to have it deleted. Wonder if that played into it?

beachplum Dec 8th, 2013 08:33 AM

oppps ... don't think anyone had responded (when I read it) but it did make me smile ....
