Mosey,not to worry. I did the same thing by requesting a personal response from Mr. Haines in a header. Mr. Haines politely ignored it instead of taking an opportunity to publicly berate me for my ignorance. I caught on and apologized to the thousands of Fodorites who willingly and generously share useful information, some from travling experience, some from living there. An innocent mistake but don't give up. Just by surfing and reading, you will learn a lot. I'm too old and ornery to be silenced by one poster. How about you? Okay, if not old, how about just ornery?! :)

Rex. Get over yourself. One reponse to the OP informing her that calling out individual posters isn't modus operandi for the forum is appropriate. Checking in repeatedly to blather on about it makes you a prig.

I am from L.A., so I have the right to say, this is dumb, I mean, totally. Whatever.

My liberal side also comes out, because I think, all of that wasted energy could be used for some positive purpose, like volunteering at a charitable organization.

Mosey, if you need help on Scandinavia, let me know. We've taken our kid to Europe loads of time, and we visited Denmark, Norway & Sweden the summer before last when our kid was 12. It is such a great place for kids (and adults) and you will have the best time!

I've got to add that as a victim of the above mentioned person myself, I wholeheartedly agree with Scarlett, Holly, Cigalechanta,and Obxgirl.

Having started posting only a few months ago, I guess I'm a "newbie", but feeling kinda on the cusp of becoming an "oldbie".

Guess I can see both sides and the merits on both sides, which will probably not gain me friends on either side. :)

Mosey was posting a followon to her initial inquiry, which is perfectly understandable. She didn't understand that she should have continued on her original post, so people could FOLLOW her discussion; otherwise, it appears as something suspended in midair. She didn't know that she had to offer continuity...as a newbie,that's perfectly understandable.

Rex got peeved because his name appeared and he felt compelled to answer, to what, he wasn't sure, because he had to go back and check the original thread. Being thus singled out, he didn't have the option of NOT answering, without appearing rude. Maybe he had had a long day at work and didn't feel like answering. Another understandable situation.

And so on and so on. Folks, let's not attack one another. This is a wonderful forum with a lot of generous, sharing people. Some very humorous as well.

Mosey, I hope you got some of the information you wanted. If not, then maybe someone else can help.

How ridiculous that so many people have responded to Rex's lecture and yet I find myself doing the same...Rex, you have provided useful information in many of your posts but you come across as having a condescending attitude toward anyone who doesn't pose a question in what you consider to be an acceptable way. Last time I looked, this was not www.rex.com
