I think you are crazy. Way too much moving around. Seven days in the benelux countries and one day in Germany. Why bother with Germany at all?

No, she's not crazy - the woman loves to move around! Cut one day in Amsterdam (sob) and take 2 in Berlin.

I would not go to Amsterdam or Belgium--leave more time for Germany particularly a cruise down the Rhine. Also there is a Bermini train that runs thru the Glacier fields of Switzerland and loops back from the Lake Region of Italy. Try to get to the Lake Region of Italy-unbelievably beautiful. You're going to so many cities, you'll get tired of all that concrete!

Natasha -

As you have been to Europe at least a couple of times before, you probably have a good idea of what you can do in terms of separation of stops, and how long at each stop. For example, for us, we like an average stop separation of all of 2 to 2.5 hours, up to 4 in a pinch. Plugging in a value for your own preferable trip speed would help shed a lot of light on how feasible this is.

Other than that, my only point to add would be to remember dear Murphy, of Murphy's Law. Your single day trip to Berlin is 'vulnerable' to Murphy, since you've got but one day there, and it's a long hike in and out. One hitch with the rail schedule, and Berlin is toast. For purely logistical reasons of access, can you manage at least 2 days there, since it seems you very much want to see it?
