I highly recommend it, TB44!

BuffaloGirl, you can read my trip report from 2 years ago if you are bored;) That is when DD and I went for her high school graduation. I will be sure to write a report again, as I have a feeling this trip will be even more fun (and I plan on not falling down stairs this time!).

BuffaloGirl Apr 10th, 2011 03:58 PM

mms, thank you for bringing my attention to you trip report from two years ago. Loved it.......I can't believe how much you did with an injured knee!!! Nonetheless, it sounds like you had a fabulous time with your daughter. What wonderful memories the two of you share.

DaveMM Apr 10th, 2011 04:03 PM

I love this thread. Our time is finally almost here...two and a half weeks to go. I am SO excited. :-)

Researched, booked and just itching to pack.

DaveMM - should I start a countdown? !-)

You must be SO excited!!!

sap Apr 10th, 2011 04:29 PM

Right behind you, Dave. We have eight weeks before Paris, the Luberon & beyond. Unless there is a radical change, it looks like you're going to have great spring weather!

For those who don't have room in their suitcase...don't forget that the local French post offices have international pre-paid boxes of varying sizes that you can purchase and then ship home heavier/bulkier items...forget the name exactly (something colis) They usually have samples made up and on display; you would just need to complete a customs form before shipping.

Don't let luggage requirements get in the way of having a few items that make the fond memories last beyond the trip!

denisea Apr 11th, 2011 03:14 AM

I've started my countdown...I leave in 225 days! :-)

Colissimo, I think, klondiketoo:

BuffaloGirl...as I look up at the white board in my office someone drew “Count down to” next to an Eiffel tower and XX days underneath. Everyday someone comes in and changes the number. Right now it says “16 days.” So I am reminded at least twenty times a day how long I have to wait. Not long now. I think the people in my office will be glad when I leave. They won’t have to hear me talking about France…until I get back. ;-)

sap… low sixties in Paris and low 70s in the Luberon. Rain or shine…high or low temps…we are in for a great time.

denisea…so you are going back a little earlier than last year. No going for Christmas? Your TR was great.

BuffaloGirl Apr 11th, 2011 11:14 AM

DaveMM - When it was getting close to my departure everyone (work and home) was ready for me to leave!! I love that they're counting down for you. :-)

Denisea, you lucky girl!

denisea Apr 12th, 2011 11:11 AM

DaveMM & BG- I am lucky.

More Delta miles and an invitation from gracejoan to join the Thanksgiving dinner group at Violon d'Ingres and I had to do it. The second my husband expressed some interest-I was booking it. First time in an apartment, as well...
So I hope to see maybe some Christmas markets or other Christmas activity, but will see "thanksgiving in Paris".

tdk320n Apr 13th, 2011 02:58 AM

I leave in 13 days for my 6 week trip to Paris and Nice. Reading this report reminds me of how much I love Paris.
So glad that your trip was so fabulous.

DaveMM Apr 13th, 2011 06:11 AM

denisea, have you booked an apartment yet?

denisea Apr 13th, 2011 03:15 PM

DaveMM- I have and barely got one! I am renting from Paris Perfect.

DaveMM Apr 14th, 2011 08:26 AM

I am so impressed with Paris Perfect. We are staying in the Champagne unit. From my first contact (1/28/10) they have provided so much information and they quickly respond to emails. Their 33 page "Paris Perfect Guide" provides lots of info about the neighborhood, restaurants, bus lines, etc. The stuff we need to know.

They are a customer oriented company and their apartments look fantastic. Pricey...but fantastic.

My experience with them so far has been excellent. So many that I "follow" on Fodors use them so I felt good renting from them...we are in a pretty small apartment but it will still be larger than our last hotel room was. I look forward to staying in an apartment for the first time.

Will be looking for your trip report DaveMM! The gite looks amazing!

Still picking up hints on your OP BuffaloGirl, like the response from Klondiketoo about the prepaid boxes.

BuffaloGirl Apr 15th, 2011 07:04 PM

Your trip is coming up soon, MarySteveChicago (aka RochesterGirl)! You must be getting very excited!!! Since this thread has been resurrected I've been thinking about Paris a lot. I've really been thinking about the places I didn't get to. I hope you'll write a TR when you return!
