BG-will definitely post and tell you all about Paris at Christmas...I don't think I am tech savvy enough to put together a photo show set to music (which is what tmy husband says I should do)...but will do my best to share.
I am a purse person and will be on the hunt there for something cool. So glad that you also realize that being lost in Paris is pure heaven...who cares? There is always something around the corner to discover and you might find your favorite place while "lost". You can see from some of Kerouac's threads that you will always have something new to discover in Paris! |
BG, as one who feels like I am where I belong every time I arrive in Paris, I must say your report was a delight to read. I felt like I was walking with you as you explored the beautiful City of Light.
Being from a very small town, I love mastering the metro systems everywhere I go, but after my first trip to Paris, I preferred to mostly walk and take an occassional bus. Wandering the streets of Paris is never "time lost"! Thank you for sharing your experiences with those of us who enjoy the same WOW factor that you expressed with such joy. |
Thank you ginainmi42!

Wowee, thanks for a terrific trip report!
Not sure where you'll be on the Cape this summer but if you're near Wellfleet, you must go to PB Boulangerie. It's run by two Frenchmen and their pastry is amazing. My husband insists that their almond croissant is better than any he's had in our many trips to France. There's a resto too. If you'll be staying in a cottage, definitely get their fromage bread. Incredible. http://www.pbboulangeriebistro.com/d...s/PB_MENUS.pdf |
great report! fantastic energy! :)
|
Thanks lilaki!
mvor - we stay near Yarmouth, but we travel alllllll over the cape. PB Boulangerie's website has been bookmarked. Thank you!!! |
You're welcome! If you have a Trader Joe's near you they have good chocolate croissants (made by the same person who makes them for Williams Sonoma). You proof them in the oven over night and bake them fresh the next morning. I was just touting them in the Lounge - I'm beginning to feel like a croissant pusher...
|
No Trader Joes here. I checked Wegman's last night and didn't find them. I'll have to ask someone the next time I'm there! I could go for one right now!!!

BG I am late to the “wonderful trip report” party but I echo all the previous posts. The wait was worth it. We go to Paris for 8 days and the Luberon for 4 days late next April. I am SO EXCITED. :-)
On all my trips my favorite part is early morning. I love running, walking and sometimes just sitting before everyone gets going. There is something magical about a quiet sunrise supported by early morning sounds and smells. I catalog my early morning quiet times by taking lots of pictures to show my wife what she has missed. She enjoys sleep. I know our trip to France will allow me to fill the memory banks with great early morning experiences...and mid-morning, afternoon and nighttime experiences. Thanks again for sharing your time in Paris. DaveMM |
I haven't checked in here for awhile and I was wondering how it went. Glad to hear you weren't disappointed.

DaveMM - I was worried you thought I forgot about you...the person who did a countdown for me!!!! I'm glad you found me after waiting so patiently!!! April is just around the corner, so you should be getting very excited about your upcoming trip.
I understand the early morning thing you're talking about (minus the running). rs899 - the only thing I'm disappointed about is that I didn't have enough time to do EVERYTHING!!! Paris is awesome!!! |
Thanks BG for reminding me of our times in Paris - we were like you and just wandered around 'soaking up the atmosphere' as well as visiting special places.
Your DH would be dismayed to know that I have 16 pages of 'Things to do in Paris' that I've saved from Fodors; I haven't shown my DH either, for fear that he'd expire! And it wasn't until my third trip there this year that I finally came upon the perfect handbag . . . Di |
di2315 - I love it.....16 pages of things to do in Paris!
I loved the fact that we wandered and got lost, but over the he last couple of days I've been thinking about all the sites I didn't get to see.....I have no choice but to return. :-) |
Has anyone traveled to Paris and not returned????
|
great question...if only! maybe I won't leave on the 28th!
|
Stay denisea.....staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! !!!! Just do it. Please.
|
sap - didn't mean to ignore you. I've been trying to keep up with everyone.
Darn college tuition - I know what you mean. Children first, of course. !-) |
16 pages of things to do in Paris, sounds like my cafe listing right now that I am trying to cut down..lol
Your excitement of your trip is infectious and thank you for sharing it all. I hope you get to go back a few more times, it is just something about that city and country. I leave next weekend for a week like you and will do my level best to go to the places I missed and yes there will be allot of WOW's and DAMN how did I miss that..lol Thanks. |
Excellent trip report BuffaloGirl!!! Brought back so many memories of our 2 visits to Paris, especially wandering around the city trying to find that favorite place you were sure you would always be able to find!!! We have had more experiences with being "misplaced" in Paris than any other city. Your enthusiasm makes me want to return to one of the most exciting cities in the world!!!!
|
Thanks Snowflake! Misplaced in Paris....sound so much better than lost!
