Nice song. If no one here knows then I would email them and ask for the name. Does the same song play on every Relais & Chateaux site?

Hi Plufmud,
The song is by Charles Trenet (of "Boum" fame). It is about the N7 and is called--surprise!--"Nationale Sept." Here are the lyrics: De toutes les routes de France d'Europe Celle que j'préfère est celle qui conduit En auto ou en auto-stop Vers les rivages du Midi Nationale Sept Il faut la prendre qu'on aille à Rome à Sète Que l'on soit deux trois quatre cinq six ou sept C'est une route qui fait recette Route des vacances Qui traverse la Bourgogne et la Provence Qui fait d'Paris un p'tit faubourg d'Valence Et la banlieue d'Saint-Paul de Vence Le ciel d'été Remplit nos cœur de sa lucidité Chasse les aigreurs et les acidités Qui font l'malheur des grandes cités Tout excitées On chante, on fête Les oliviers sont bleus ma p'tite Lisette L'amour joyeux est là qui fait risette On est heureux Nationale 7. |

Thank you logos
Check this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z33pxbRcPBw Now I am going to see if I can find translation. |
I have the CD - my ex was from Narbonne, so loved Trenet, but that doesn't sound like Trenet singing. What would be a good way to send you the song? I can load it to itunes and save it as an mp3, and send it that way, maybe?
What is your email address? |
my bad! That was Trenet singing, and I don't have the song - my 2 cd colletion has all the others, just not that one. But, you can get it on itunes, for 99 cents, they have it as Route National 7. They have a couple of his albums.

Rough Translation
Of all the roads of France and Europe The one I prefer is the one the leads By car or hitchhiking To the sea shores of the south National Seven You have to take it to from Rome to Sète Be it two three four five six or seven It’s the road to success Vacation road That crosses Burgundy and Provence That makes Paris a little neighborhood of Valence And the suburbs of Saint Paul de Vence The summer sky Fills our heart with clarity Chases the sourness and bitterness That makes big cities unhappy All excited We sing, we celebrate The olive trees are blue my little Lisette Joyful love is there and brings a smile We're happy, National 7. |
Thanks to everyone.
