I second that -I snore! Not pleasant for other room sharers. Rooms and bathrooms in Europe can be very small. Also could have advantages if you come and go separately.

Since this is the OP's first trip to Paris, she may not know that hotel rooms are very very small - all of them - and a double and a single surely would be the best idea,

although if cost is a factor, the person taking the single might have to pay another double room - not all hotels have the single option - just a word of caution to check that out first. As a solo traveler I have wanted to stay at a hotel on Mouffetard, but they charge for a double if you're a single.

P.S>

forget about Citidines - there was a report about bedbugs awhile back.

All very good ideas and I will check out these websites. My problem is there is a lot of information and I am trying to focus . . . focus . . . focus . . .

I have traveled abroad before, but neither of my companions have, although they are not novice travelers. We all have mild to moderative assertive personalities so we wouldn't have a problem with the 'See you later. I'm going where I want.' And none of us are high maintenance, so I don't anticipate a fight for mirror space. One of us, however, sleep with a C-pap machine, so I don't know if that will be disruptive to the other two.

I just know that I will be gob-smacked to be in Paris. My only regret is that my DH will be at home, but that's more reason to talk him into a trip for the two of us later.

The trip has not yet been announced to my two lucky companions, so I will wait until they can share my excitement and provide their wants and desires for lodging before we make a reservation. I'll post back what is decided, but you have all given me much information to choose from.

TDudette, the Ceramic indeed looks very nice; is it on the thread about right bank hotels?

TDudette Jan 25th, 2010 05:56 AM

Don't know, grandmere. Don't believe I posted it because it was several years ago that we stayed there.

<<One of us, however, sleep with a C-pap machine, so I don't know if that will be disruptive to the other two.>>

Another good reason to consider booking a double and a single. However, the major reason I suggested that earlier is that you will have a far wider choice of hotels in the 6th and 7th, the area you prefer.

The Ceramic looks good but you'd be spending a lot of time on the metro.

Make sure that they bring the right adapter for their C-pap machine - my dh used one when we were in Europe and even though I had adapters - there were some issues with the right voltage and plugs being right by the bed.

I would get three singles - you can hang out in the lobby -

Have a great time!

I wish you a very fun trip..

No matter what, you will at least require an adaptor. I bring a transformer anyways, fro charging camera batteries. For C-PAP, it will probably be dual votlage (check label near plug) but may run warmer on 220. Also, bring an externsion cord in case there are no outles near bed.

I had one french outlet where there was a big prong right in the middle of it, while other locations were as expected. So I bring my adapter pouch with all of the bits
