scout4- i am actually staying at a rented flat...it's a lock the keys in the apt before you go, kind of thing. they will however book me a car for 2e less than limoservice.com but i don't know with who...and for the extra 2e i might as well go with someone that has been highly recommended here.

Melodie- you are soooo right. i checked on that Hilton. $220 a night YIKES. i am staying for $100 in a full apt...washer & dryer incl. I'm just 1 block off the Santa Maria Church in Trastevere.
I figured...do i really want to check out and into hotels all day on my last night? I suppose paying $54e is worth the hassle. I was also weary about taxis that early in the AM (4am).
I am traveling south also, but i chose to do that in the beginning so i "end up" in Rome and make getting to the airport easier...not that easier, apparently.

Do yourself a BIG favor. Do not depend on anyone to get you to the airport on time to make your flight. If you get to the airport late, or not at all, you are in deep yogurt. Being a veteran of Italian travel, as much as I adore Italy and Italians, being one myself, I find that they are EXTREMELY unreliable. Put yourself in a position in which you control you own destiny. That way, there is no one to depend upon or blame. Get to the Hilton the night before, and leave with assurance in the AM. Have a good trip.

Waldo, there are a zillion threads in the archives that attest to the reliability of limoservicerome. Many, many Fodorites have used this company (including me) and sing its praises (including me). Kimberlina can absolutely count on them to be on time.
