Hovercraft between Budapest and Vienna

We are thinking of taking the hovercraft between Budapest and Vienna (instead of flying) in mid-October. Any info on this experience would be appreciated.

cadwex: Wouldn't advise it. You sit low in the craft which obstructs views and the banks of the river are often high, again obstructing views.
It is a wonderful train ride through beautiful country side. It is even a more wonderful drive (IMHO) which would give you opportunities to stop at Sentendre, Sopron, Melk, etc.

Hi C,

I agree with Joe. Take the train

cadwex, We hired Bela Lukacs to drive us from Budapest to Vienna, door to door. He charged $125 US (I believe he now charges $135). It's more convenient and easier than taking the train. Probably also cheaper for 2. Certainly more interesting. You can get other comments and his E-Mail address by searching "Bela Lukacs - Hungary" on this site.
