Yes, oneillchris-and it seems to me I recall being the one who originally suggested the Hotel San Clemente to you! (
But as dlhindi is looking for a hotel room on short notice around 100E night in the historical center of Venice (a rate very difficult to find these days in Venice) I too, would recommend Hotel Centauro, located in the San Marco area, very near the Piazza, and in fact did recommend it on an earlier thread: Author: Girlspytravel Date: 11/20/2006, 03:07 pm Try this hotel in San Marco HOTEL CENTAURO 93.50 Euros a night, double, some with canal views, with a/c and a lovely breakfast room, great location, good reviews on tripadvisor.com: www.veniceby.com/centauro/index.html Author: Girlspytravel Date: 11/20/2006, 03:17 pm Michelle-I think you may get a better rate by going to their website-but contact them by email to make sure: www.hotelcentauro.com |
Dhindhi-if you go to Hotel Centauro's website, as I just did, you'll find they have a double w/o bath available for your dates at the excellent rate of 70 Euros/nt. (this being still low season, and just after Carnevale-the best rates of the season are in your time period).
I don't think you'll do better than that for rate, location and charm, given your short notice. You'll get to enjoy Venice at just the right time-without swimming through what the Italians call "un bagno di folla" (crowd bath) -good luck! |
Awesome, thank you so much fro everyones advice. I booked the Hotel Centauro on their website for 80 euros a night for a double with bathroom. I am so excited we leave for Rome on Wed. I will do a trip report as soon as we return.
Thanks again |
