There is a bus from Roma Tiburtina. The time table is online somewhere.

If you take train, change in Chiusi.

Do a text search for Italian Railways or go to www.fs-on-line.com

emma: I was going to go in the opposite direction in '01 but ended up renting a car for 2 weeks, so no 1st hand info.
But to add to "a" post check-out www.sena.it/ www.lazzi.it/senaautolinee/index_e.htm You can take the train from the airport to Tiburtina and you can get a reserved seat on these buses.
Good-Luck..Regards, Walter

I lived right outside of Siena. i tried several means of transportation and my best advice is to take the bus. It is a 3 hour ride on a very confortable luxury bus. It is the easiest and most direct way. from the airport you need to get to Tiburtina (either cab or train).

If you do take the train, you could take train from main train station in Rome to Grosseto and switch there.

Emma, follow Ashley's advice. Your best bet is the bus. Take a cab to Tiburtina from Rome Airport. Rome Termini for a young female lugging a lot of bags is a very vulnerable sight.
