Help with French Riviera

I will have two days to spend in the French Riviera in September. I am interested in opinions on St.Tropez, Cannes and Monte Carlo. (Or anyplace else you would reccomend)

Unless you have a car St.Tropez is difficult to access, compared to the other two, and would also restrict your movements along the Riviera by day.
Monaco is more expensive, so I would settle for Cannes, and do day or half day trips to see the rest.

didn't make it to st. tropez but was very unimpressed with cannes. monte carlo was okay but nothing special. i actually stayed in nice and traveled around the area. loved the hill towns-Eze, St. Paul de Vence---beautiful.

We loved Antibes -- SANDY beaches, beautiful views. On the train line. We stayed in Nice and daytripped to Antibes, but next time I would love to stay in Antibes for a few days. Excellent Picasso museum there as well.
Deborah,Do not focus on the " Hollywwod"
locations. Most of the Cote d' Azur is
lovely, but my favs are Menton,St. Paul,
and Villefranche. St. Tropez is nice but
a long drive from Nice. Explore !

Another vote for Menton. We stayed there last year at the Hotel Princess and Richmond (www.princess-richmond.com).

A good source of info is www.crt-riviera.fr.

Hope this helps.

Hope this helps.

Great info, you all have me digging deeper into some of the small towns in the area. Most of what I will be seeing is available more by bus than train, are there any websites for bus travel or is that something you just look into upon arrival? As I move on with my trip beyond France, I see some train routes that take far longer than they should to get places.

I stayed in Nice and used the bus to visit Eze village, St. Paul de Vence and Vence. The buses left frequently out of Nice. You can also easily take the train from Nice to Cannes or Monte Carlo. I agree that St. Tropez is really hard to get to without a car.
Ellen
