Help needed for trip to Paris in early October
My husband and I are traveling to Paris for the second time. What can we expect for weather, and I would love recommendations on day trips and places to eat.

You can check average weather stats for Paris by month or even day on websites like www.weather.com, etc. Or see www.paris.org/Acceuil/Climate. So that will tell you what to expect. If you live in the US, you might expect it to be like NY city or Wash DC, or that general area.
Sometimes I think maybe covering so many topics in one post doesn't work real well when they are very different and such broad topics. But there are lots of threads on here about day trips from Paris and restaurants, but without any criteria at all in what you are looking for, it would be difficult for folks to make the best recommendations for you. Day trips are easy, and the best ones will be listed in any decent guidebook, so maybe you can get some ideas and ask something more detailed that way after reviewing them. Usuals are Versailles, Fontainebleau, Chartres, Chantilly, Giverny, Rouen and even Reims isn't too far. There are many others, but I think those are maybe the most popular for first-timers. I like Auvers-sur-Oise where Van Gogh lived/died a lot, also. |
If you have not already gotten your room. Look at http://locationparis9.canalblog.com/. We enjoyed La Oriental. Great Cous-Cous and stuffed chicken pastry on Avenue Trudaine.

Provins , a medieval town is a nice day trip. Don't know your dates but there is a big contemp.. art show in Chatou, on the Isle de Impressionists. You could combine that with a visit to the museum and lunch at a guinguette..

Some good answers above, and you will find a few thread with a search on this exact topic.
Are you looking for self-guided or guided (e.g. Cityrama, Parisvision,etc..)? |
we are staying the first 4 nights at the Hotel Odeon and the last 5 at the Hotel Brighton - any tips for local hidden gems would be great. We prefer self-guided tours,
