OK, beginning with the "t" in Malta, 12 letters. This very popular sunny resort town in southern Europe is a linguistic cousin to part of the Eiffel Tower and part of Moulin Rouge. It was also repeated over and over again by Eric Idle's character is a famous Monty Python sketch lampooning packaged tours.

Hang on, capo.... what we're doing is, whoever guesses, picks the next word. And all the words have to be travel related, somehow or another.

Two thoughts--wouldn't it be cool if this never ended, but became an ongoing battle of travel crossword wits? We have such smart brains on this forum!

Torremolinos, Capo?

Meant to say (for any new players that might show up!)....whoever guesses correctly gets to build on THAT word to make the new word. In cases of multiple correct answers, whoever posts first is the winner and gets to choose the next word.

1) State what letter you're building on from the previous word.
2) State the position of that letter in your new word.
3) State how many letters in the new word.
4) Give us a good clue!
5) Again, all words need to be travel-related.

Did you ever hear that Monty Python sketch? I can still hear Idle's character chanting "Torremolinos, Torremolinos."

This is fun, you guys. I do hope it continues....and maybe some brave (or bored) Fodorite will actually sit down and diagram this thing one day, lol. Wonder how many miles long it will get?

BR, this is too funny for words! I called in the Big Guns (aka Darling Husband, king of crosswords) to do the Monty Python clue (what's the use of an English husband if you can't pull Monty Python out of him??). He pulls out a paper and pencil and starts from the first question and begins a grid. It went well until after Pup and then it went to hell in a handbasket. Then Capo came in without reading the whole thread and got us off on a new tangent, but we had terrazzo and Torremelinos on the same T.... LOL...I have to go make some dinner now or maybe a Malta...

Can't have dinner, you fiends, until I know this clue! Is it Prague? If it is, then next clue is: seven letters, with the g as the fifth, a city that is not to the gourmet's taste.

Praha would work...except it's only five letters.

But is that an example of what you mean by "wouldn't rhyme if it was English." That, for example, Praha rhymes with itself but would not if it were Prague?
