Big Ben?
BR: Big Ben is all I could think of for 2 words, 6 letters, but the second letter isn't L. How can we have 2 words, with second letter L? Mystery.
Ohhh.....I thought that was an I, not an L. Well shucks.
That's correct Carol and Brim
Those are the words to the westminster chime Sorry , that was meant to be a capital I..I don't even know what key I hit to get that?? i I l L..none of those look like what I typed |
The problem is, that an upper case I, as in A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, "I", looks just like a lower case L. So I thought that was an upper case I, and therefore, Big Ben fit the clue.
Well, I'll think about it some more, then.....hmm... |
I see now...Fodor's changes they typeface when they post ..capital I and lower case L look the same!
Brim you were correct so it's up to you now!!
Oh, cool, so Big Ben was correct? Yay!
OK, building on the second B. 6 letter word, with the B as the first letter. (BTW, the word can be spelled 2 ways, both spellings being 6 letters long) Clue: This maritime city, whose name derives from an Old Norse word, was made famous in late 19th century European literature when it was described as sleeping, dead and mysterious. |
Jody, you said the second letter was "L"--what happened to the "L"?
Oh, never mind. I didn't think of "i" even after I thought of Big Ben, and by that time I'd forgotten what letters were in the previous word.
Bremen?
Brugge/Bruges!
hey guys, don't tell em that when a new kid comes over to play, you all take your toys and go home!
Assuming I'm right, can I give the next clue? With the G in Bruges, 8 letters: small-waisted beauty from Cremona |
Guarneri?
Can't pull one over on you, cmt - right you are!
I almost didn't post that, because I was misspelling Guarneri at first (thought it was "Guarnieri"), so didn't think it fit the 6-letter requirement.
Will try to come up with a new clue.... |
The "a" of Guarneri becomes the last letter of this four-letter place name. It is a town in Calabria where the local dialect is based on ancient Greek. This town was the home of a brigand whose surname was the same as that of a famous lover.
Bova?
Yes, you are very good! Just curious: Did you find it by researching the name of the bandit (Romeo) or by looking for a town where a Grecanico dialect is spoken?
(P.S. Can you answer the question I just posted re inter-island transport on L. Maggiore after the end on Sept.?) |
Sorry, I was afk for a while. Yep, jenviolin, you're right. And with the new words since then....looks like Steve_James gets to post the new word/clue!
