HELP-CAN NOT REMEMBER HOTEL NAME
As we are returning in June for 2 weeks, I would like to stay in the same hotel we stayed in 4 years ago, but sadly I have forgetten the name. I know it was a 2 star, just around the corner from a nice little bakery that had great pastries. It was also close to subway station so we liked that. The name eludes me, but as I recall it a red awning over the doorway, and the street was very quiet at night. Can anyone help me recall this hotel. If not, how about some recommendations for other nice small hotels in the same area? Thanks
Michelle, uh, can you remember where you are going?
Was it in Austria? Did they have a problem with sharks nearby at the closest beach?
Look, here's the problem. I seem to remember two red awnings in Europe.

Perhaps if you looked at your airline ticket you could tell us what country you're visiting so I could tell you which is your awning?
I know where you mean. It has to be in Scizianialoi, Italy, because that's the town in Europe where they have pastries. I don't think they sell pastries anywhere else in Europe. I think it's a Holiday Inn, but it might be a Ramada, Hampton, or Sheraton or Marriott or one of those, although most Sheraton's have at least two awnings. If you are a little more specific as to the exact shade of red of the awning maybe we can help you.
Duh, Sam. EVERYONE knows that Scizianialoi, Italy, doesn't have a subway station. Michelle specifically said her hotel was close to a subway station.
Sorry, guess I have to start reading more closely. But where is there a city in Europe that has both pastries AND a subway?
Michelle, since Kreskin is a little short of work these days I'm sure he could help you! If not try Raveen!
Hi michelle:
Can I assume Paris????
It sounds like about 1000 of the hotels in Paris--so I'll guess and say Hotel Aramis Ste Germain on Rue du Rennes. Right across the street from the metro and bakeries galore! And a red awning if I remember right.
It is part of the Best Western chain. Good luck and bon voyage!
No need to wonder any more Michelle. I know exactly the place you are looking for.

It is the internationally famous **Hotel Anchovy----just around the corner from a charming little boulangerie known for its cheap pastries.

There is nothing we dont know on this forum.

If AC is right, that is some spooky!
Ok Michelle:
Fill us in please!!!
As soon as I read this question w/o the destination country and saw there were many respsonses, I knew Michelle was in for a beating. BUT when I post a question I am very eager to see the respsonses....where the heck did Michelle go??!
That hotel is now a McDonald's, trading the red awning for golden arches. I'd recommend the nearby Hotel Ubiquitous or the equally as pleasant Chambres d'Hote (ask for Madame La Concierge).
Next door is a great bar, the Stella Artois.
I'm pretty sure it was in Austria.

Tirol.

Tirol. Tirol. Tirol. Tirol.

Say it fast enough. You'll get it.
??? Obviously Michelle is the OWNER of this fabulous hotel in some nameless city near a red awning, and this entire post is an elaborate ploy to create free market research. Either that, or she is the owner of a "nice" little bakery and is wondering why her patries are not selling, could it be the unfortunate demographic of near by hotel patrons??? Should she relocate her bakery to say,,,, Fresno????? How will we know??
Elvira, I do believe McDonald's has you on the payroll. You're a wonder at info about them! Say it isn't so!!!!
Oh my gosh, I can't beleive I forgot the city!?! I am too dumb for words and all you nice people taking the time to help me out. You are so kind, just the best! And yet, I don't think that the hotel I stayed in is any of those listed...hmmm...oh, I know, the Bus #54
stopped right in front of the hotel!!!
And we had a windowbox! Thanks you sooo much for your help. Can anyone further assist me?
uh. Michelle?

one more chance! the winning city is??? (strike 3 you're out!)
Michelle, I know the place. But it's closed now, because that No. 54 bus came through the front flower box last September and wiped out a group from Atlanta just as they were studying their Rick Steves guides and getting ready for a day of gallery and street market browsing.

The owners have taken the insurance money and opened a nice B&B in a housing estate in Dundee, where they also fix Hondas.

The pastry shop and subway are still there, though. Except now the pastry shop is a Subway.
Michelle is putting a big one over on all of you--(us)

She is the queen of trolLs and deservedly so
Be sure to RRRRRollll those "r's"...

Tirrrrrrrrolll...
Now I wonder if it was the trip I took 3 years ago not 4?!? And, was the awning blue instead of red? But, they all spoke a foreign language...but, I didn't understand a word...so I can't tell what it was?
PLEASE HELP!
Well Michelle:
You got me....thanks for the laugh!
Michelle, hi! The fact that you didn't understand a single word, I guess it must have been Swiss German. So ..... I would think you might have stayed in Switzerland 3 or 4 years ago, right?
..... Oh no, sorry, I'm wrong, there is not a single town in Switzerland with a subway. But anyway, we have a lot of little nice bakeries...
Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I think we may be getting close...
I do recall the women wearing a lot of plaid, (although it was a black on black plaid) would that be Swiss German? And the men were very big! Uh, and oh yes, we went to a big museum with a painted ceiling!!! See, we ARE getting closer!!!
THIS IS THE REAL MICHELLE!!!!
I am so embarrased! I forgot to tell you that the city ws Paris! But, who is this other person that is using my name? Thank you to the one person kind enough to actually take a try at my question, AC? I really wasn't try to
mislead anyone!
To the OTHER Michelle, you are too cruel!
OK, I'll bite.

do you remember the arrondissement? Or what named attraction you were within walking distance of? (that's a real sentence! I swear to God. ha ha)

:-)

Beth
Hi Michelle:
Ok, it is Paris...not the hotel I gave you...how about landmarks or street names?
We have a wealth of information here!
O, C'mon now...
Who is this person that continues to impersonate me?!?
I am the real Michelle! I'm sorry I ever posted a message on this terrible site!
You people are so cruel!!!
It was not Paris it was London, yes I remember it was London The smoke was clearing from a Nazi bombing raid, we walked to the little pastry shop around the corner and...
OMG, this is the best "troll" or "fake troll" thread I've read. I'm laughing so hard I'm going to get myself fired!!!
What a thread!!!

Will the "real" Michelle please stand up?
Our first true troll drama!

Michelle #1: Oh, have I caused a problem?

Michelle #2: Have you caused a problem? This whole thread has jammed up the entire Internet all because of hare-brained, selfish, foolhardy, solipsistic you!

Michelle #1: Oh, well, I... (and thinking to herself "why is she so upset with me? and why is she using such big words?")

Michelle #2: Why, you little... (and then realizing that everyone would be able to tell that - - truth be told, she really hated her job, and just sat back in the storeroom all day, reading the Reader's Digest "Word Power" hour after hour)...

Sure, this doesn't really contribute anything to this thread, but I figured that since this is a full-blown drama now, we needed a little character development...

...with apologies to "Shopping Cart of Love: The Play" by Christine Lavin.
Oh wait! I remember the street now. It was "rue" something. And the hotel name was "something du something" or something like that.
Actually, and I swear on your mother's grave, I AM the one that posted this troll to start with and my name is not really Michelle. I posted it just to see what kind of response it would get and so far it has been great. And to all the other fake Michelles, thanks for the laughs.
LOL! Edward Jones II, thank you for telling me that! I portrayed all the "Michelle's" up to the one with the Nazi bombing thing. I was getting a little concerned that I had, in fact, hurt someone's feelings! I am so relieved!!! Great Fun, Thanks!
Perhaps we'll meet again...
I can't believe this! You guys are such story tellers. Nobody made me up! I am a real person who just wanted a little help from some travel "experts", and look what I got.
OK, ENOUGH! LOL I can't take these feelings of guilt that I MAY have miffed a "newbie" (and if I have, I am truly sorry!)nor the laughter that's accompanied this!!! PLEASE do not torment me anymore!!!
Affectionately,
Gigi aka Michelle (#2)
