HELP-CAN NOT REMEMBER HOTEL NAME
As we are returning in June for 2 weeks, I would like to stay in the same hotel we stayed in 4 years ago, but sadly I have forgetten the name. I know it was a 2 star, just around the corner from a nice little bakery that had great pastries. It was also close to subway station so we liked that. The name eludes me, but as I recall it a red awning over the doorway, and the street was very quiet at night. Can anyone help me recall this hotel. If not, how about some recommendations for other nice small hotels in the same area? Thanks

Michelle, uh, can you remember where you are going?
Was it in Austria? Did they have a problem with sharks nearby at the closest beach?
Look, here's the problem. I seem to remember two red awnings in Europe.

Perhaps if you looked at your airline ticket you could tell us what country you're visiting so I could tell you which is your awning?
I know where you mean. It has to be in Scizianialoi, Italy, because that's the town in Europe where they have pastries. I don't think they sell pastries anywhere else in Europe. I think it's a Holiday Inn, but it might be a Ramada, Hampton, or Sheraton or Marriott or one of those, although most Sheraton's have at least two awnings. If you are a little more specific as to the exact shade of red of the awning maybe we can help you.
Duh, Sam. EVERYONE knows that Scizianialoi, Italy, doesn't have a subway station. Michelle specifically said her hotel was close to a subway station.
Sorry, guess I have to start reading more closely. But where is there a city in Europe that has both pastries AND a subway?
Michelle, since Kreskin is a little short of work these days I'm sure he could help you! If not try Raveen!
Hi michelle:
Can I assume Paris????
It sounds like about 1000 of the hotels in Paris--so I'll guess and say Hotel Aramis Ste Germain on Rue du Rennes. Right across the street from the metro and bakeries galore! And a red awning if I remember right.
It is part of the Best Western chain. Good luck and bon voyage!
No need to wonder any more Michelle. I know exactly the place you are looking for.

It is the internationally famous **Hotel Anchovy----just around the corner from a charming little boulangerie known for its cheap pastries.

There is nothing we dont know on this forum.

If AC is right, that is some spooky!
Ok Michelle:
Fill us in please!!!
As soon as I read this question w/o the destination country and saw there were many respsonses, I knew Michelle was in for a beating. BUT when I post a question I am very eager to see the respsonses....where the heck did Michelle go??!
That hotel is now a McDonald's, trading the red awning for golden arches. I'd recommend the nearby Hotel Ubiquitous or the equally as pleasant Chambres d'Hote (ask for Madame La Concierge).
Next door is a great bar, the Stella Artois.
I'm pretty sure it was in Austria.

Tirol.

Tirol. Tirol. Tirol. Tirol.

Say it fast enough. You'll get it.
??? Obviously Michelle is the OWNER of this fabulous hotel in some nameless city near a red awning, and this entire post is an elaborate ploy to create free market research. Either that, or she is the owner of a "nice" little bakery and is wondering why her patries are not selling, could it be the unfortunate demographic of near by hotel patrons??? Should she relocate her bakery to say,,,, Fresno????? How will we know??
Elvira, I do believe McDonald's has you on the payroll. You're a wonder at info about them! Say it isn't so!!!!
Oh my gosh, I can't beleive I forgot the city!?! I am too dumb for words and all you nice people taking the time to help me out. You are so kind, just the best! And yet, I don't think that the hotel I stayed in is any of those listed...hmmm...oh, I know, the Bus #54
stopped right in front of the hotel!!!
And we had a windowbox! Thanks you sooo much for your help. Can anyone further assist me?
uh. Michelle?

one more chance! the winning city is??? (strike 3 you're out!)
Michelle, I know the place. But it's closed now, because that No. 54 bus came through the front flower box last September and wiped out a group from Atlanta just as they were studying their Rick Steves guides and getting ready for a day of gallery and street market browsing.

The owners have taken the insurance money and opened a nice B&B in a housing estate in Dundee, where they also fix Hondas.

The pastry shop and subway are still there, though. Except now the pastry shop is a Subway.
