Yes, but it is $300 or so more than some of the others.

I have not read this whole post, but I just did that flight on July 9th and I did DFW to Gatwick, then Gatwich to BCN. I opted to stay in London for a day to visit friends, but I have done it straight through many times at it is not bad at all. I bought my ticket at STA travel in Highland Park (across the street from SMU), and it was not that expensive for a high season ticket.

Hey Misspie,
Well this is November and you posted in August - but never did say if you found a connection?
We flew a year ago on AA from DFW to LGW and then had a connection on to Barcelona - on BA - and got to Barcelona early afternoon. Of course it was November, but the price was way low. (We had booked one for Rome and had to cancel that for medical reasons and changed a couple of months later for Barcelona and got MONEY BACK from the airline. Priceless!)
Good luck - hope you get/got a good connection.
(Retired teacher - so I really understand about spring break.....)

I am stuck WAAY back on the "nightmare" caused by Delta giving up most of its gates at DFW (the fewer the gates to have to find the better IMO) and why someone would forego flying to Atlanta and making one change to a flight N/S to BCN (other than an outrageous price, of course).

" ...The flight from DFW to Frankfurt to BCN gives you 45 minutes to make the connection. Yikes!"

I have done both - a 45-min connection in Frankfurt is probably easier to accomplish than a 2-hr one (LGA-JFK). We had a 3-hr connect-time for the latter and wound up having to run to catch our Iberia flight to Barcelona

Lufthansa and SpanAir are 'code-share' partners

I finally found a flight that leaves late enough on Friday night to let the kids go to the full day of school. (That was a big concern because the schools tend to load them up with tests the last day before spring break.) DFW-Gatwick (long layover)-BCN. The return is BCN-Heathrow (dreading it)-O'Hare - DFW.

The fare was $623 per person, including all taxes.

As for flying Delta, the reason I avoid it is because when they gave up most of their gates, they also "gave up" most of their employees, so lines are longer than they should be. (Or so I've been told by folks ranting after flying Delta.)

Missypie: that sounds about right about price and everything. I am glad you found something and that you are visiting Barcelona. I am coming to Dallas in Spring (dates TBA) for 2 weeks or so to visit my family. Will we cross paths in the air? That would be ironic.

Missypie - great fare! We've booked DFW-LGW on American for spring break that week as well. Happy planning!

So you're doing a London spring break? We're going to try to combine London with the Netherlands this summer.

dorkforcemom Nov 14th, 2006 11:36 AM

To tell you the truth, the minute we land my sister & I are training to Paris for 4 nights, then returning to London for the last few nights. The great airfare ($380 round trip) was too good to pass up for spring break!

No kids on the trip this time?
