We spent 6 weeks driving through Portugal a few years back. If your trip turns out to be even half as good as ours was you will have a fantastic time!
|
Looks like you won the weather lottery and you're having a great time!
|
Muito obrigado, Mel. So glad that you finally made it to Portugal and off to a colorful start. The photos are fantastic. Cannot wait to enjoy more through your eyes.
|
Mel- wonderful photos- keep them coming! I hesitated in booking a spring trip abroad, so living vicariously through you! Interested in hearing how you did during COVID, with the Portuguese language, which I have a hard time with. Are you planning to bring back or send home tiles?! Enjoy your trip.

Looking forward to more!
And, happy to see that car traffic is on the lower level of that bridge… that’s been freaking me out about my trip. |

So glad you were able to attend the noon organ concert at the incredibly beautiful, baroque Clérigos church and port tasting at Cálem. Looks like you have beautiful weather!

I’m along for the ride. Your photos tell a lovely story.
BTW, I’ll want to know how many Pasties de Nata you consume….I lost count. Just sayin’ |
What everyone has written... wonderful photos as always.
|
Love all the photos, and added 1 more thing to my list: Casa Portuguesa do Pastel de Bacalhau, thanks for the little video Mel, it looks amazing!
|
Nice! Porto is on my list.
|
Hi Mel,
Oops, thought it was Clérigos. Did you try a pastel de bacalau? I'm addicted to them, unfortunately. I only ate two nata in 10 days, showing an unusual amount of restraint. They opened a new Casa do Pastel de Bacalhau on Rua Augusta in Chiado but not as elaborate as the new one in Gaia. That one is a wow! Now on my list for Oct, so thanks for that video! |
Yo Mel, my 2 fave shots were that organist plus the final red drink.
I am done. The cork trees |
Maribel -
No way, no how on the pastel de bacalau - moi? Bill couldn't even garner the interest. Helena tells me one should never eat food with port, so I was surprised to see fish balls and port as a thing? I did discover the Calem port wine chocolates - oh my. And found a lovely sharp lemon gelato today. Who needs pastel da nata when one has chocolate and gelato? |
Port with chocolate, a perfect combo!

A few snaps from today.- finally feeling rested enough to actually label them:)

Port with cheese - even better. (Don't try telling a Brit she can't have port with her Stilton!)
Love the photos - seriously jealous. |
Mel, that first Porto shot @#36 is really effective--you chose a perfect perspective.
I am done. the sunny days |
beautiful photos, Mel, Portugal wasn’t ever on my radar, but….
|
Love the photos of Guimares! We visited Lisbon (which I love) and Sintra in 2018. Now I seriously want to plan another trip to Portugal to include Porto and other places! So many places to see and not enough time.
