Going to Paris in March? Want to GTG?

My possible dates: March 20, 21, 22, 23 or 24

My idea: meet in the Luxembourg Gardens (weather permitting).

Any interest? Any other ideas?

C'mon, let's do this!

Iregeo Feb 11th, 2006 03:54 PM

ttt

thatgirldina Feb 11th, 2006 06:16 PM

I won't be in Paris at the same time, but I'll be there from March 2-10. If your plans are not definite and you change dates, let me know. I'd love to meet up. I've posted a thread on TA, but so far, no one has responded. :( I'm travelling solo and would love to meet some fellow visitors or locals during my stay,

StCirq Feb 11th, 2006 06:18 PM

Well, Iregeo, we've already discussed that we'll miss by a day, but I'll mention that I'll be arriving in Paris the evening of the 17th and will be there the 18th and 19th, so if there are any overlapping dates......

Iregeo Feb 11th, 2006 06:28 PM

Thanks for responding.

Dina, no, my dates are pretty much set in stone. I, too, will be solo. I hope you have a great time!

StCirq...I wish! As you said, we'll probably cross in the airport!

Anyone else?

luveurop Feb 11th, 2006 08:17 PM

I'll be arriving March 26, departing April 1.

isabel Feb 12th, 2006 03:58 AM

I'll be arriving the 16th and staying untill the 22nd. If anyone who will be there during those dates wants to arrange something I'm in.

Iregeo Feb 12th, 2006 09:44 AM

Isabel, sound great! Please clarify -- are you leaving the 22? If so, our only day in common is the 21. Either way is fine with me.

Anyone else?

docdan Feb 12th, 2006 02:20 PM

Topping so I can find this later

docdan Feb 12th, 2006 03:18 PM

Hey, this is probably not what you had in mind - and if so, please feel free to bluntly say so, but my family (5 of us) are ariving at CdG early 3/24 and will be staying at a hotel in the 5th.
You could join us, unless you have a better offer.

Iregeo Feb 12th, 2006 05:20 PM

docdan, what an incredibly kind offer! I'd be honored! Let's see if/when others are available and perhaps we can firm up some plans.

wtggirl Feb 23rd, 2006 05:35 AM

HI Iregeo! Do you use Trip Advisor Paris forum? You will find more takers for a GTG there because the board is for Paris only.

I am going to be in Paris 2/22-2/29 and have arranged a get-together on the 26th. Will you still be in town?

Here is the link:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...de_France.html

Rillifane Feb 23rd, 2006 05:57 AM

We'll be in Paris from March 16th to the 28th and staying in the 6th.

Drinks some evening?

rkumar3 Feb 23rd, 2006 06:12 AM

My wife and I will be in paris from March 8th - March 15th.

Iregeo Feb 23rd, 2006 06:40 AM

Hi wtggirl. Looks like I'll miss you by a day, as I'm leaving on the 25. UNLESS I EXTEND MY TRIP!!!

I usually only use tripadvisor for hotel reviews, but I'll check out some of the Paris posts. Thanks for the heads up.

What's the easiest way to do this? Just decide on a date and a place? It's hard to coordinate!

Iregeo Feb 24th, 2006 06:54 AM

Any more takers?

So far, looks like Isabel, Rillifane and I are all available on the 21 (unless, Isabel, you will be in town on the 22?)

What sounds better -- a daytime gtg in a park or an evening gtg for drinks/dinner?

Reply here or, if you wish, you can e-mail me at [email protected].

Iregeo Feb 25th, 2006 09:56 AM

Topping for the weekend crowd.

cigalechanta Feb 25th, 2006 10:33 AM

this reminds me of my trip trying to fit in where to meet. One day it was at the Louvre in front of a painting, Paul LaRoche's, "La Jeune Martyre."
Wishing you all a great visit.

Iregeo Feb 25th, 2006 11:15 AM

I truly wish our paths would have crossed in Paris. You are clearly a woman of class, style and fun, as your trip report shows! Maybe next time!

katiekat222 Feb 25th, 2006 03:05 PM

I will be in Paris from the 16th to the 22nd....so 21st sounds good to me!
Let me know what the status is.

fbc34 Feb 25th, 2006 05:30 PM

I'll be in Paris from the 18th until the 23rd. Let me know.

BettyBoop Feb 25th, 2006 06:32 PM

I'm in Paris from the 23rd to the 27th. I leave on the 28th. Sounds like I may miss the proceedings, but I'll keep checking this post.

sassy27 Feb 25th, 2006 06:42 PM

I leave for Paris tomorrow (Feb 26) and will be returning Sunday (Mar 5). My flight doesn't take off until late tomorrow so I will be checking Fodors for last minute updates if anyone is interested.

icithecat Feb 25th, 2006 06:58 PM

This is a cool thing to do. A few years ago we met a Fodors couple from NY at a cafe in Paris. It was fun.

Iregeo Feb 25th, 2006 07:40 PM

This is great!

How about meeting on Tuesday, March 21, at 7:00 pm at the wine bar Taverne Henri IV (I've always wanted to go there!), located at 13 Place du Pont Neuf, in the 1st.

So far we have 5:

myself
Isabel
rillifane
katiekat222 and
fbc34.

We'll have a great time!

PLEASE RSVP BY EMAIL TO ME ([email protected]) THAT YOU ARE DEFINATELY COMING AND THE NUMBER IN YOUR PARTY.

Anyone else care to join us? Please, help me keep this topped until our time comes!

isabel Feb 26th, 2006 04:45 AM

Irego - I'm following this thread and plan to make note of where and when the GTG is going to be. But I just have to warn you that I'm not a definite. It will be our last night in Paris, and I'm traveling with two other people who may have ideas of how to spend our last night. So if I can, I will try to stop by but I can't be sure at this point. I appreciate your organizing it, even if it turns out I can't make it. Isabel

Iregeo Feb 26th, 2006 06:20 AM

No worries, Isabel. I understand completely. Hope to see you and your friends.

martytravels Feb 26th, 2006 06:30 AM

I'll be in Paree March 23-26.

katiekat222 Feb 26th, 2006 02:19 PM

See you on the 21st!
If there are any changes e-mail me at [email protected]
A bientot!

Iregeo Feb 26th, 2006 05:02 PM

katiekat, in which arrondisement are you staying?

Iregeo Feb 28th, 2006 06:07 AM

Topping.

docdan Mar 1st, 2006 08:44 AM

This may sound crazy, but my wife and I both want to visit the Tenniseum at Roland Garros, which has an Englsih tour at 11 AM daily, my flight arrives at 0630 on the 24th, so I figured, why not make that our first item on our itinerary. I intend on taking RER from CDG to Luxemborg, cab to our hotel in the 5eme, then taking the metro from Cardinal Lemoine to the porte auretil (sp. incorrect) After our tour, the schedule is then flexible, but I thought taking in the 3PM fashion show at GL (or is it Printempts?) would be fun. The Rolland Garros trip is a must for us, but the rest of the day is flexible. does any of this sound amenable to youse guys?

Iregeo Mar 1st, 2006 08:54 AM

Hey docdan. Good to hear from you. What is the Tenniseum at Roland Garros?

cigalechanta Mar 1st, 2006 09:03 AM

If you meet in the Luxenbourg, there's a wonderful exhibit in the museum there. The Phillips Collection which includes Renoirs beautiful favotite, "The Luncheon."

Also a special at the D'Orsay, Cézanne and Pissaro.

Iregeo Mar 1st, 2006 09:05 AM

Thank you, cigale. I'll be there for sure.

cigalechanta Mar 1st, 2006 02:10 PM

For any of you interested Cara Black will be reading from her new book, Murder in Montmartre
March 20 at Shakspeare & Co,
March 23 at Red Wagon rue st paul 7pm

Rillifane Mar 1st, 2006 02:28 PM

Is the proposed meeting at Taverne Henri IV still on?

Iregeo Mar 1st, 2006 04:23 PM

Hi Rillifane. So far, only Kittiekat has rsvp'd "yes". Isabel said "maybe" and I'm still waiting to hear from fbc. Are you in? How many in your party?

My plans for that evening are to meet as many of you as can attend at the taverne at 7:00, and then have dinner that evening at Reminet around 9:00. What do you think?

docdan Mar 1st, 2006 04:30 PM

Oh, my, we are not the tennis fan, are we? Roland Garros is the site of the French Open. And just like any thing else in Europe, they have a year round museum aobut it, check out:
http://www.fft.fr/rolandgarros/en/Frame_terre.html
I do not mean to represent that this is a normal desire of Western tourists :)
but if you are a sports fan, it may interest you.

Iregeo Mar 1st, 2006 04:31 PM

wow, I have no poker face at all!

Sorry I'll miss you and your family, but I hope you have a fabulous time!
