Girl Wants to Propose to Boy in Restaurant with View of Eiffel Tower
Any suggestions? Thanksa.
How about one of the restaurants IN the tower? Never been there, but there are plenty of posts on this site about them.
trivia question:

which artist/other notable had many many meals IN the Eiffel Tower, because he despised it so much he said that it was the ONLY place in the city that he wouldn't be able to see it??

Beth

Oscar Wilde?
Was it Toulouse Latrec(sp)?
What does this have to do with the poster's question?
You're right, it doesn't have much to do with the poster's question, but it was Guy de Maupassant. As for a restaurant, unless the Eiffel has some special significance to your relationship, there are so many wonderful, romantic restaurants in Paris that you may want to branch out a bit. However, if you're set, the restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Tower is pricey but good. There's also the dinner boat cruise, which is very nice - also expensive but the food was quite good. Hope this helps!
Marissa: Thanks for your reply. However, I am looking for a restaurant with a view of the Eiffel Tower. My boyfriend loves the Eiffel Tower, so it is for him.
You could try the restaurant at the top of the Centre Pompidou (the name escapes me). The food was good, and the view was splendid.
Not sure if it's still there but there was a restaurant called the Shogun that did teppanyaki in a boat anchored in the Seine just off the park area in front of the Trocadero gardens on the left side of the bridge if you stand facing across the Seine toward the tower. It had beautiful views of the tower though all the fanfare and racket associated with teppanyaki might not quite be the romantic dinner you had in mind. The view is, however, probably as good as you'll find--if it's still there.

Hi Millie-what a great idea!
We ate in a wonderful restaurant in the 7th e.called D'Chex Eux..2 ave de Lowendale,47 05 52 55- it is near the Invalides, and you can see the Eiffel Tower from there, although , I cannot say for sure that you can see the Tour from inside~LA MAISON BLANCHE has a view of the Eiffel Tower, the Seine and the Invalides that is wonderful-They have a large terrace..it is located on the sixth floor of the Theatre des Champes-Elysees.The food is modern French, quite a chic crowd..and the TOUPARY is at the top of the Samaritaine Dept store, better known for veiws than food but that might have changed.Hope this is some help-Bon Chance~~

xxx-Is it the Georges? Wonderful place!
If you like seafood and are willing to splurge, I'd suggest the Port Alma restaurant on NY Ave on the other side of the Seine as it has a good view of the tower and nice decor; the cuisine is mainly southwestern French, I think -- be sure to specify you want the view (and it is not as obvious or touristy a choice as Jules Verne). Here is a review from Patricia Wells:http://www.patriciawells.com/Articles/2000/season.htm
mia: yes, it's the "Georges", one of my favs in Paris as well
Okay, since no one else has asked yet, I'll be Miss Busybody and do it. Millie, why have you decided to do the proposing?
Who cares why she's proposing? If she was male would you ask the same question? Wake up! It's not 1950 anymore!
Too Nosy for My Own Good: As my mother would say, "Why ask why?"
I don't know, I think it is reasonable to wonder "WHY"-someone posts a question about proposing to her boyfriend, and it is a unique idea-what is wrong with asking why? If it was a secret- she should not have posted it on a forum such as this-the proposal didn't have to be mentioned if it is secret. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I think it is sweet and romantic and would like to hear more!
Millie - why are you doing the proposing? It should be him posting the messages seeking suggestions for romantic restaurants, not you! Have you never read The Rules?

Lou
xxx
Why is Millie proposing? Because she's a troll, and hoping to get a debate started about women proposing to men.

Otherwise, the heading of this thread would be "Looking for a romantic restaurant with view of Eiffel Tower."

Just a hunch.
