Are any of the recent travellers back yet?

tuscanlifeedit Jun 11th, 2005 05:46 PM

I've always that that Don't Look Now was just too spooky and disturbing; I remember that it frightened the heck out of me. I don't even like to think about it while I'm in Venice!

Ooops... I wanted to add that Dangerous Beauty is a film set in Venice that is so gorgeous. And I love Bread and Tulips; that's my favorite "set in Venice" movie.

I know the thread isn't about Venice movies, but I wanted to say something positive after I sort of dissed Don't Look Now as being too creepy.

Although we won't be doing the Ghost tour, it sounds great, but we are traveling with our kids we will be in Venice June 20-24 too.

Maybe we could talk about films set in Venice until someone gets back and tells us about the Ghost Walk.

I love both Dangerous Beauty and Bread and Tulips too, but I don't think that Bread and Tulips featured Venice scenery as much as Dangerous Beauty and Don't Look Now did.

Now I do want to see Dont Look Now. I have never seen it and don't even remember it being in theatres.

I find Venice eerie especially having visited only in the Fall and Winter with the mists and cold winds and grey sunlight. Thanks for mentioning the movie.

We took the Avventura Bellissime "ghost walk" two weeks ago. It wasn't really a ghost walk at all but a very entertaining walk in the company of a charming Italian man, who told us some amusing anecdotes about the city. It made a nice change for one evening. Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties - he set a cracking pace.

TTT -- has anyone returned with an update on their Ghost walk? Will be in Venice October 12-16 and would love to do the walk ... Updates are greatly appreciated.

We did it in June. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting. We had done Ghost Tours in the US and they definitely were heavy on the "spirits." If I were to title it, I would call it simply the Legends Walk. Once the realization of we were not on the tour I was expecting, I still enjoyed it. I would suggest taking a bottle of water with you. There is not time to grab one while walking if you become thirsty. Reasonable pace in comparison to other tours we did. Of course, wear comfy shoes!

TravelerLee03, did you not see my posting of 6th July (the one immediately before yours) ?

It was quite enjoyable and made a change but not really worth the money, I thought - I'd rather have spent more on dinner :-)
