Germany: Frankfurt to Philadelphia
Has anyone flown Lufthansa/USAirways code share from Frankfurt to Philadelphia? I believe the equipment is the A340 (A343), and am wondering whether the coach seats have an in-screen video monitor or whether they still have the old drop-down screens. I think they are still the old drop-down screens, but just wanted to hear from someone who actually flew the route. Thanks!

No personal screen in coach in any of LF's 340, inclulding the -300 and the -600.
However, they do have individual screens in coach on USAirways' own 330 service PHL-FRA. |
I flew from Philly to Frankfurt on US Air in 2001. I don't know what the plane was but there were individual tv screens with movie/tv show/music videos selections.
|
Do the A330s (333) have the personal TVs?
|
Yes, on USAIrways' A330s, which fly PHL-FRA.
|
I,too, have flown USAirways PHL-FRA, and it was a 330 Airbus with individual screens. Are they now using the Lufthansa planes for that route?
|
Let's make this clear.
Two flights per day PHL-FRA: - USAirways A330. Flight US894/LH1415. Individual screens in coach. - Lufthansa A340. Flight LH427/US5600. No individual screens in coach. USAir and LH are Star Alliance partners, and code-share on each other's flight. So, you will see both flights on each other's timetable. |
I knew about the Star Alliance deal, but I didn't realize that there are now 2 flights a day PHL-FRA.
They're probably planning on doing away with PIT-FRA non-stop; boo hiss. |
If the personal TV is important to you, DEFINITELY take the USAirways plane (333 or Airbus A330-300). The entertainment system is IMO one of the nicest, as it is entirely on demand, meaning you can start/stop/rewind anything at any time. Very nice and lots of choice.
There are 2 flights a day PHL-FRA, one is USAirways, and one is Lufthansa. I think there is one USAirways flight to PIT per day as well. |
The PIT-FRA flight is still in the timetable, all the way to next spring. Haven't heard of its cancellation, yet.
|
Yes, I know that PIT-FRA still shows up thru next spring, but so did PIT-CDG for a long time til all of a sudden-poof!
I sound like a nay-sayer, and I don't want to become that! :-) Hope springs eternal! |
