Assume what? That when applying for a visa you don't need to give them a DATE ?? or copy of ticket .. or tell them anything?

One can be asked to show a travel document.. but one can also say that it will be purchased after visa is granted. what one should never do is show a one way ticket.

I'm just SAYING it is hard to see how an office has screwed up a date. Most likely this poster found a cheaper flight the day before and didn't give it a thought until too late. We'll see what he says.

Well, Lincasanova has a lot more confidence in the competence of bureaucrats than I have. As a lawyer I have seen countless screw-ups by officials... Not that ordinary citizens don't screw up constantly as well. That's what gives lawyers job security.
