German Town - Other suggestion
Will be in Germany again this summer and looking for a new place to explore within 2 hours (car)of Frankfurt. Our favorite German town is Rothenburg and would like to discover another town similar if possible. Will have 2 days in the schedule for this piece.

Been to Heidelberg, Trier, Fussen, Munich, St Goar, Rudeshim, Oberwessel.

Thanks.....

Oberkirch and the entire valley leading to Bad Peterstal, Baiersbronn, Tonbach.

Or if you want a little biggere place, with more sophistication, at the expense of a little less charm, Baden-Baden.

Another great place is Landshut - - but it's more than 2 hours from Frankfurt.

Best wishes,

Rex
You might have missed Cochem on the Mosel, midway between Trier and Koblenz, a charming town of cobbles and half-timbered houses that does get busy in summer but isn't nearly as overrun by international tourists as Rothenburg. Here's an aerial view of the town and castle:

www.mosel-reisefuehrer.de/CochemerSesselbahn/default.html#Anchor-Le-19653

Monschau, a ways to the north of Cochem, is probably closer to three hours away but is also unbelieveably picturesque. Go to www.monschau.de/touristik and click on "Bildergalerie" on the left for some photos. It too has many summertime visitors, mostly German.

Any of the small villlages along the Mosel.

Staufen is pretty nice and is popular with the germans.

It's just outside of Freiburg.

Steve,

Bacharach, just down the Rhine is very pleasant. Lot's of history. Check out their Website, it is quite extensive.

Greg
Wurzburg has an interesting castle, a beautiful palace and some nice baroque architecture.
