Claire, at least you won't have a boring waiting time :) Hope it will solve soon !!

It is true a few years back, they did divide the posts into completely separate forums and most people didn't like it.

There isn't any problem with this IMO. There is an edit function if you use preview. Also, if you just want to view posts from a certain country, that is very easy to do by selecting the country in the search box. This is real easy.

I'm with Nikki on this. It's their board and they can do what they like about it. The biggest aggravation has arisen when they pretended they cared what we thought. It raises expectations to no good end.

Like it or not, I personally think this format is better than the one used at the Frommers site which I notice has at least one "moderator" who (I believe) used to post here.

I like this format better.

I do agree that sometimes better "geographic categorization" might be helpful but I find that to be less of an issue when people compose a useful message header.

There are small things to be improved, however I think that this is the best format. I'll like this forum alot more than Frommers, Virtual Travel or ITMB.

I'm rather new to this forum and am finding it very useful and entertaining. After reading it for a couple of weeks, I began to search for other forums to see what else was out there. I always come back to this forum. To me, it is easier to find the posts that I want to read and I certainly enjoy getting to
know the different travelers who post here. It is wonderful information!

Here here Nikki! I couldn't agree more. Having been on this forum for many years now, we seem to do best when they forget all about us. Best regards, Suze

I too like this format more than some other travel sites. Very user friendly.

Yes! Just leave it alone. Why fix what isn't broken!!!

I find Frommers interface pretty useful and attractive, also. I think I like it the best of any I've seen. The only issue I have with it is the search function was inaccurate some time back (I haven't checked recently, but I suspect hasn't change). It worked fairly well if you knew how to use it, but had some inaccuracies. Also, they didn't but the posts into the database for a long time, so you couldn't search on words for recent posts. That was actually the biggest issue, probably.

I do like Frommers a lot, also, they have some useful functions. However, they have a big drawback in that there is no search function at all, as far as I can tell, and they are divided into countries -- some people like that, some don't. They don't have staff editing and deleting people and posts so much on there, either, especially arbitrarily.

Dukey, what are you referring to as a "moderator" on Frommers? They don't have any moderators, it's kind of nice (I hate boards with active moderators myself). Once in a great while, a Frommers staffer who works in an area on a guidebook will respond to a post and give advice, but that's all I've ever seen. Also, what moderator are you referring to who used to work for Fodors and now works for Frommers? just curious, although I've only visited a few of their countries, so it could be something I just never saw and maybe they have moderators on other countries I never see over there.

Christina Jun 19th, 2006 11:04 AM

oh, gee .. I meant I like Fodors the best of those I've seen, but the rest about Frommers is true. Now Frommers does have a more obvious editing function that allows you to edit a post for up to 30 minutes (or maybe even deleted). The problem with that is there can be no interactive responding to posts if a post isn't visible for 30 minutes.

Laidback Jun 19th, 2006 07:19 PM

Christina I think you could have just benefitted from the editing feature(after posting) that I suggested, as I could use the delete function for this double posting.
