Fodor's Guide to Germany- You quoted me!!

I just got an email saying that I was quoted in the new guide to Germany. I thought that it was a late April Fool's joke, but it appears legit.

Isn't that nice? Thanks Fodor's! How can I see the quote??

lincasanova Apr 3rd, 2009 05:35 AM

I would like to know how to see my quote, too, as I already have a Spain guide... maybe the editors will be so kind as to email it to us.

swandav2000 Apr 3rd, 2009 05:45 AM

Hi EmilyC,

I got the e-mail too. But I'm impatient, so I found it, and you're on the same page that mine is.

Just go to the Fodors bookstore online (click on the link above) and go to the 24th Edition of the Germany guide. Then you just page forward (I couldn't find a way to go right to the page) to about page 85, right after the München pages. You'll be able to see the "Word of Mouth" in big print, and there you are! You can click to enlarge the page.

Have fun -- it's neat!

That is just great. And, of all of the things that I love about this area, hiking is # 1 so I am glad that the quote got picked!!!

quokka Apr 3rd, 2009 08:18 AM

Hey, make them send you a copy as offered in that email.
I'm quoted, too...

lincasanova Apr 3rd, 2009 08:51 AM

They will, and of any book you wish.

lincasanova Apr 3rd, 2009 08:58 AM

I assume I am in the Spain guide, but I can't flip through pages of anything.

ibailey Apr 3rd, 2009 04:04 PM

I was quoted in the Belgium guidebook and will check it out in my local Borders travel section. Ordered my free travel book of France immediately. Thanks Fodors!

bettyk Apr 3rd, 2009 06:23 PM

Yes, me too. I ordered the Germany guide since hopefully we will be going back again soon.

lincasanova Apr 3rd, 2009 11:09 PM

Are you all able to flip through pages on the online book at Fodors? Please teach me how for the Spain guide.

swandav2000 Apr 3rd, 2009 11:51 PM

Hi lincasanova,

Once you have the book on your screen, just click the little arrow pointing to the right. Since I knew my comments would be for the area around München, my search was very easy.

Hope you don't have any trouble finding it!

lincasanova Apr 4th, 2009 01:19 AM

I am pretty sure you can't do that with the Spain guide. Correct me if I am wrong.

swandav2000 Apr 4th, 2009 03:28 AM

No, you're right. How bizarre! Wonder why there is a difference with that guide??

Hope you'll get it in your hands soon so you can check it.

I was quoted in the Paris guide last year and thought the email was a joke at first also! They will send you a free book but I have to tell you, it's a blast walking into borders and opening a book with your quotes in it!

Vttraveler Apr 4th, 2009 04:33 AM

When I was quoted in another guide earlier this I replied to the email asking what the quote was and got a prompt response.

bettyk Apr 4th, 2009 08:29 AM

I found mine. It's on the "Beating the Euro" page under Food & Drink.

Last year, I got a free copy of the new Switzerland guide for my Word of Mouth comment that was included in that edition.

Free guide books!!

I, too, was quoted in the Germany guide. I went to Barnes & Nobles yesterday and looked through the book and found my quote about Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It is really nice to see something published with my name in it! I chose the 2009 Montreal/Quebec City book since I am going there this summer with my two children.

Just got my Germany Guide! Did not make the large chapter quotes, but just happy to be listed!

Thanks for the book, Fodors!

Congrats to all the Fodorites who were quoted....some more than once!!

WOW - I got such an email I think, but I thought it was spam, so I just deleted it.
Did your emails have any "official" Fodor's look to them? I can't even remember for what book it was supposed to be. LOL

Kailani Apr 24th, 2009 07:57 PM

Inspired by this thread, I just decided to google my screen name and Fodors, and I found a quote of mine in the 2009 Los Angeles guide. Exciting!

I didn't get any e-mails about it, though.

Underhill Apr 25th, 2009 01:11 PM

I asked Katie where to find my quote and got a speedy response.

annhig Apr 25th, 2009 02:17 PM

hi taconictraveller,

the e-mails don't lok particularly official, but if you reply, you'll get through to Katie.

it never occurred to me to ask for my quote [in the Prague guide since you ask] - i assumed she'd have too many people asking her.

I'm off to looka the guide to see if I can find it!

regards, ann

annhig Apr 25th, 2009 02:29 PM

looka?

well i just looka'd the prague guide but failed to find myself - you could only access about 30 pages. makes sense i suupose, else why would anyone buy them?

I'll have to go and find it in Waterstones.

Katie is a treasure BTW - she very kindly sorted out a mix-up with my free book at break-neck speed. thanks Katie!

I received the email that I was quoted and thought at first it was a joke. I was excited to be quoted and I loved that I got a free guide book. I opened it up and found my quote for the first chapter! Too cool!
