Flower Carpet Brussels '10
Has anybody been to this before? Is it worth it? How many days?
Suggest hotel and side trips please. Many thanks, Bette |
It looks wonderful, but I haven't been. I'd say a good day trip is Bruges.
We stayed in the Welcome Hotel, which someone here recommended and then Samantha Brown on the Travel Channel featured on Passports to Europe. It is a small, unique hotel, each room decorated in different Asian themes. It is about a 10 minute walk to the Grand Plas in Brussels. We were there in October, so no flowers, but we really enjoyed it. The Flower carpet looks amazing. Maybe next time. |
Thanks. We have been to Brussels many years ago so I was hoping this was something really great in order to travel back there....or at least spend a few days and then hit another country..

The Flower Carpet is only assembled every two years in the Brussels Grand Place. The last Flower Carpet was displayed in 2008 so you'll have to wait until 2010 to see it again. Here is some more info on the carpet: http://www.brussels-belgium-travel-g...wercarpet.html
You can look through the rest of this site for more ideas about what to do in Brussels and Belgium: www.brussels-belgium-travel-guide.com Hope this helps, Jeff |
I have been, and it was fantastic, even though it was raining(ah Belgium). If you get there a day early, you can watch them assemble it. Be sure to go up into the government building to get an areal view and see the flowers inside. Well worth a visit.

I saw it back in 2002. It was around mid to late August. At the time I was very tired and hot - there were what seemed millions of people in the square at the time. It is quite an amazing sight.

Thank you for all your help. we plan on going in August 2010, just don't know how many days to stay. We may hop on a river cruise before or after the flower carpet..any suggestions?
Thank you all, Bette |
