Florence, Rome or Paris for New Year's Eve?

My family and I are planning to spend the holidays abroad either this year or next. We'll be starting in Munich, one of our favorite cities, a few days before Christmas so that we can enjoy the Christmas markets and the holiday itself. Then, on Dec. 26 or 27, we'd like to travel elsewhere for New Year's Eve. The three options we've considered are:

(a) Train from Munich to Florence, spend a couple of days in Florence, then train down to Rome in time for New Year's celebrations

(b) Train from Munich to Florence and stay in Florence through New Year's

(c) Fly from Munich to Paris and ring in the New Year there

Which would you suggest? Or are there other, equally fun, cities in Europe to spend New Year's? I've heard that Copenhagen is a great choice too. Our only real requirement is that the celebrations be family-friendly (we have an 8-year-old).

TIA for your help.
