et - yours is not the only post on this thread that's confusing me!
is it being suggested that we stop travelling to places like Greece and Italy because of their economic woes? surely not - as clausar says, tourism to Greece has gone up, which can only be good thing for the greek economy. or do we stop going to Belgium or the UK because there's the odd strike? - again, it seems to be an extreme reaction, particularly when some of us live here! There is a serious point to be gleaned - it would perhaps not be a good idea to commit yourself financially at this stage - there will be loads of offers closer to the time that you want to travel. |
Well I was one of the 16M to visit Greece this summer and it was fantastic! We didnt notice anything and the people were so welcoming...we are already booked to go back this coming summer!
My point was it was silly to recommend avoiding a whole country due to the current economic situation - and was trying to point out that the PIIGS arent the only ones that will be impacted by debt situation IF it gets any more out of hand. If you want to go to Greece, GO! I never pay up front for hotels anyway so certainly agree with annhig there!! Happy travels everyone! |
jamikins & annhig
very well said... there is no need to pay up front for hotels in anyway, when all hotels are offering special last moment deals in Greece, with the exception of the very high season. ( 20 Jul-20 Aug) Happy travels !!!! |
clausar - i'm so glad that you had such a good tourist season. we all need all the help that we can get in these hard times.

Geez, no wonder the OP never came back...

OP did not come back for days after posting - has nothing to do with the latter posts which only served the OP's original intent by bringing the thread up from Fodor's blackhole!
