Paul,

You shouldn't have trouble finding accommodations this time of year. For peace of mind we reserve a room for the first night after arriving. After that, you'll find that BABA (Book a bed ahead) is an excellent resource. It's available at most tourist information centers, and the small fee was deducted from the B&B bill.

The others are right about the flexibility this offers.

Another suggestion is to check out the library for reference materials. They offer many books on romantic, castle, off-the-beaten track accommodations, etc. Karen Brown's books is one example, and we found some really nice "splurge" accommodations, as well as some wonderful budget B&Bs.

Enjoy a great vacation!
