Wrong about Tagus (Tejo in Portuguese).

It is called Tagus by English speakers, just like Firenze is called Florence.

My ex-husband's parent's house looks out over the Tagus in Lisboa.

If you read Fernando Pessoa's Book of Disquiet in English, you would notice the Tagus plays an important role in the life of Bernardo Soares.

Fernando Pessoa is Portugal's greatest writer.

Po river in northern Italy is 652 kms. long and was omitted from the list. Makes me wonder if there are other omissions.

I think you forgot the Main River, which is 527 km.

Well, the Inn river flows into the Danube, but at 510 kms would make the list on its own.

Here's the list I referenced - says Po is 427 or so km and does not list the Inn (maybe I missed it?) - forgot to check the Main.

Well I used miles because most Americans, who dominate this site, are used to them rather than kilometers but this is a pertual confusing problem - in Europe everything of course as it is in the rest of the world - in kilometers and metric system not our old English based folish system of miles, pints, gallons, cups, tons, etc.

Your definitions are imprecise.

Much of the Danube flows through Eastern Europe.

Does this make it a Western Europe river?

(Russia and former Soviet Republics not included; rivers must originate inside an E U country or Norway and Switzerland, etc that are surrounded by EU countries)

the Danube qualified under my rubric because its source is in western Europe as per instructions - not that this was not a flawed instruction just that no one would know most of the longer rivers from say Finland, Belorussia, Russia, etc.

The Meuse (Maas in Dutch) is not the Mosel (Moselle in French) as your list indicates. They are two quite distinct rivers.

Also it's the Douro, not the Duoro.

And what about the Vistula? It rises in Poland, an EU country, and drains into the Baltic still in Poland. At 651 miles in length, it should be fourth on your list.
