You'd need to do some research to find the name of the person, but it will not be difficult, once you identify the lake I'm thinking of that has been in the news for several months.

starrsville Jan 25th, 2006 03:20 AM

Can't figure this one out. In the news recently - but where? That may help.

cmt Jan 25th, 2006 04:47 AM

Location: Not France.

grandmere Jan 25th, 2006 06:45 AM

Lake Ponchartrain, name after Comte de Ponchartrain. Working on his real name.

Intrepid1 Jan 25th, 2006 06:48 AM

Jérôme de Phélypeaux, comte de Pontchartrain

grandmere Jan 25th, 2006 06:50 AM

First name : Louis
Last name (9 letters instead of 10?): Phelypaux

??

starrsville Jan 25th, 2006 06:50 AM

But that's not a 10 letter name.

Intrepid1 Jan 25th, 2006 06:50 AM

perhaps there was more than one comte....

grandmere Jan 25th, 2006 06:51 AM

Ok, my Google source spelled his last name incorrectly: Intrepid got that right, I think.

grandmere Jan 25th, 2006 06:51 AM

Jerome was son of Louis.

cmt Jan 25th, 2006 07:53 AM

You (you all, all y'all, yooz) got it. Intrepid has the correct spelling of the last name, and Grandmere has the correct first name (Louis, the father). You can decide between you who'd like to post the next clue. If I must decide, I'll pick Intrepid, in order to get someone new playing this game, and also because finding the family surname was the main challenge.

cmt Jan 26th, 2006 03:40 PM

Intrepid, will you be posting a new clue? Let us know (yes/no), so we'll know whether you've read this, and if you haven't read it or don't want to post a clue, someone else will.

cmt Jan 29th, 2006 04:54 AM

I guess Intrepid is not looking back at this. Grandmere, do you feel like posting a clue? If no reply from Grandmere, would someone else do so?

111_op Jan 29th, 2006 07:42 AM

Just to drop in to say that I was "involutarily exiled." I'm doing some thinking, but I'm sure that the game will carry on just fine without me.

starrsville Jan 29th, 2006 09:36 AM

Thanks for checking in. 111op. I wondedred - since there was silence from both you and Roby. I wanted to ask - but didn't want to continue that previous discussion.

Glad you are back on the board. You were missed. The puzzle didn't progress very much while you were gone! :-)

starrsville Jan 29th, 2006 09:42 AM

That should have been...
Thanks for checking in, 111op. I wondered...

Don't seem to be able to type today

111_op Jan 29th, 2006 02:17 PM

Thanks, starrville. Well people did solve the clue that cmt posed, which is great.

Sorry to be brief, but given the circumstances and the context of this thread, I guess it's best for everyone.

starrsville Jan 30th, 2006 12:29 PM

Understood.
Glad you're back.

111op Jan 31st, 2006 12:19 PM

Thanks starrville (notice no "_").

starrsville Jan 31st, 2006 01:07 PM

Yup. I've noticed.
