>Go on then. Tell me something positive about Germany.

Well, we can get up very early. It´s necessary to secure the sun loungers from Brits. But it´s only for their own good, so they don´t resemble a cooked lobster afterwards.

altamiro May 9th, 2008 07:37 AM

>Don´t forget bierwurst

But we draw the line at wurstbier.

PalenQ May 9th, 2008 07:41 AM

Worstbeer is in England IMO

Cholmondley_Warner May 9th, 2008 08:08 AM

So far we've got lager, sausages and sun lounger pinching.

Those points are lost due to naked old people on the beach, lederhosen and freddie mercury type moustaches, and even some of the men have these.

Have you seen this advert?

A frog in lederhosen: I suppose the nightmare of countless Englishmen.

Lawchick May 9th, 2008 08:35 AM

My husband looks exactly like the German guy in the ad! - but he's Austrians.

The Austrians are like the Germans but completely lack the efficiency and possess a sense of humour ;)

My favourite German things are (in no particular order)

Wurst
Beer
Schlager
Karneval in Koeln (a mixture of the above 3)
Bread
Their bio health food shops
Heidelberg
Bodensee

I'm going on Sunday to Bad Waldsee.

>>Tell me something positive about Germany.<<

We can shoot penalties and we can save penalties.

And we can be very generous. We even send some of our best guys to England to help some London football clubs shooting & saving penalties.

Cholmondley_Warner May 9th, 2008 08:41 AM

You say "husband" but really you mean "jailer and dungeon master" don't you?

CW - Knows about Austrians. If they're not keeping women in cellars, they're invading Poland.

traveller1959 May 9th, 2008 08:42 AM

BTW, aren't the Brits the real lager & sausage guys?

I heard that Brits eat sausages even for breakfast.

Sorry, not sausages, but emulgated high-fat innard rolls.

Lawchick May 9th, 2008 08:43 AM

He opens a vent now that the weather is hot so it's not so bad.

Cholmondley_Warner May 9th, 2008 08:50 AM

Ah that's sweet. A caring Austrian. Don't tell the others.

BTW you do all know what i'm on about with this cellar nonsense don't you?

traveller1959 May 9th, 2008 08:51 AM

C_W, you beat us again.

"jailer and dungeon master"

Aren't a jail and a dungeon the main attractions of England's capital city?

logos999 May 9th, 2008 08:58 AM

> "jailer and dungeon master"
Austrian has the dungeon dads, but Germany has the freezer moms.

Dead in the freezer is a lot better than alife in the dungeon, isn't it. Altough I really liked the piggy farmer, and he was Bavrian. :D

Cholmondley_Warner May 9th, 2008 09:01 AM

Aren't a jail and a dungeon the main attractions of England's capital city?>>>>

Assuming you mean the Tower - yes. but we put it out of use a while ago (in fact the last thing we did there was shoot some Germans. Maybe we could revisit it's original purpose?)

PalenQ May 9th, 2008 09:23 AM

He may mean the London Dungeon, which i recently read was the top tourist site/sight in London and i believe is in a former gaol.

And are not the von Windsors really German?

Cholmondley_Warner May 9th, 2008 09:28 AM

Tussauds is London's most popular paid for attraction and Camden Market the most popular free one.

So iffy waxworks and sullen goths are what people come here for.

PalenQ May 9th, 2008 09:32 AM

thot the Camden market burnt down?

Cholmondley_Warner May 9th, 2008 09:33 AM

Only a bit of it, sadly.

PalenQ May 9th, 2008 09:40 AM

I assume London Dungeon or Tussauds are not considered on the following list?

tate.jpgThe Evening Standard has a list of the top 20 visited tourist attractions in London according to a survey by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions. Tate Modern has taken over the number one spot from the British Museum with over 4.9million visitors last year.

The Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral are both in the top ten even though they charge admission, the rest are free. The most popular place visited in the whole of the UK was Blackpool Pleasure Beach with 5.7million visitors, but really, you don’t wanna go there, don’t get curious and just leave it to the Brits.

Here are the full 20 busiest London attractions.
1 Tate Modern
2 British Museum
3 National Gallery
4 Natural History Museum
5 Science Museum
6 V&A Museum
7 Tower of London
8 St Paul’s Cathedral
9 National Portrait Gallery
10 Tate Britain
11 National Maritime Museum
12 Kew Gardens
13 British Library
14 Westminster Abbey
15 London Zoo
16 Houses of Parliament
17 Imperial War Museum
18 Hampton Court
19 Cabinet War Rooms
20 Kensington Palace

Cholmondley_Warner May 9th, 2008 09:41 AM

I assume not as those are all publicly owned.
